)(1947 -), chairman of the Hong Kong Boxing Association, vice chairman of the Hong Kong Board of directors of the China Association for the promotion of peaceful reunification, chairman of the national opposition party, famous Chinese professor of Thai boxing, and former deputy director of the Executive Office of the Hong Kong Independent Commission against corruption.
"Kunqing" is not only the nickname given by Xu Jiajie's master when he was young to learn Thai martial arts in Thailand, but also the pseudonym used by Xu Jiajie when he wrote his own column in various current affairs, politics, culture and martial arts magazines. In addition, there is another Thai name "Lishui". When he was young, he often went to Thailand to visit local boxing schools, famous master level Taiquan teachers and local students. As a university scholar, he devoted himself to studying the culture, history, changes and technology of Taiquan. Because of his unique insights, he was invited by the local martial arts magazine press to compile his experience into a book for distribution; and later, he was invited by the local university scholars who specialized in Taiquan to go to the local university as a visiting professor and give lectures to explain his experience. Because of its historical development record, it has made great contributions to the later development. Therefore, it has been awarded the highest honor in the Thai boxing world - the golden ring master qualification by the Thai martial arts association, namely the predecessor of the world (or international professional) Taiquan Council and the world (international amateur) Taiquan Council. It is the first and only Chinese golden ring in the Thai boxing world Master.
After his "sudden departure" from the ICAC, Xu Jiajie became one of the columnists employed by some Hong Kong newspapers and magazines because of his better name. Therefore, whenever there is news related to the ICAC in Hong Kong, the media always use Xu Jiajie's past identity and experience as deputy director of the ICAC's executive office to comment on and report news events. For example, Feng Jianmin's suicide, Chen Suxia's fraud of illness and salary, and Hansen's case. Xu Jiajie, together with former Hong Kong lawyer Lin bingchang and New Zealand barrister Kevin Egan, were once known as "the three major killers of the ICAC".
Personal resume
Xu Jiajie, a native of Taishan, Guangdong Province, grew up in Hong Kong. He joined the Hong Kong Government in 1965 and worked in the tax department, the trade and Industry Bureau, the customs and Excise Department and the disciplinary force system of the Hong Kong colonial government under the rule of the British suzerain. After joining the ICAC in 1974, he was recommended to Oxford University, Cambridge University and British Police University for further study. In 1991, he was promoted to deputy director of the executive department, becoming the first Chinese deputy director of the ICAC at that time.
In November 1993, Xu Jiajie was suddenly dismissed by the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC). Because the ICAC refused to disclose the reason for his dismissal on the grounds of confidentiality, there was a public outcry. At that time, the Legislative Council used the powers and privileges Ordinance granted by colonial law to decide to open an investigation committee to investigate the dismissal. This is the first time that the Legislative Council has applied the privilege Ordinance.
On December 1, 1993, Mrs Selina Chow, a member of the Legislative Council, moved a motion to investigate the details of the termination of the appointment of Mr. Xu Jiajie, senior assistant director of the ICAC as deputy director of the executive office, on November 10, 1993. Under section 9 (2) of the legislative Council (powers and privileges) Ordinance, cap. 382, the security panel of the Legislative Council was authorized to exercise the Section 9 (1) of the Ordinance. The motion was finally passed.
Since there was no precedent before the first use of the powers and privileges Ordinance by the Legislative Council, a motion was moved on May 25, 1994 to formulate corresponding rules for the security panel to inquire about Mr Tsui. After seeing the confidential information submitted by the ICAC, the security team also summoned relevant persons to the Legislative Council for questioning. In the Legislative Council, Xu Jiajie claimed that he had been unreasonably dismissed, that he had been discriminated against by racial discrimination and that he was not as well treated as foreigners. Xu Jiajie also disclosed in the Legislative Council that the ICAC had secretly monitored senior government officials, including Anson Chan. On April 14, May 19 and October 20, 1994, RTHK's TV programme "business discussion" reported on the incident of Xu Jiajie and his speech to the Legislative Council investigation panel.
"During the inquiry, the panel held 26 meetings, including eight public hearings and one video. The panel heard evidence from four witnesses, including Mr Tsui and the Commissioner. The panel also summarizes in Chapters II and IV of this report the reasons given by the ICAC Commissioner for the dismissal of Mr Tsui, the circumstances leading to his dismissal, and other relevant evidence. "
After the end of November 1994, the ICAC dismissed Xu Jiajie as a reasonable decision. On November 2, 1994, on behalf of the investigation committee, Mrs Selina Chow presented her investigation report to the Legislative Council and delivered a speech. Due to the ICAC's confidentiality Ordinance, the public can not know why the ICAC dismissed Xu Jiajie. However, there are different versions of the story. As early as 1993, when Xu Jiajie was dismissed, some media reported that Xu Jiajie had unusual connections with the underworld, so he was dismissed. On December 14, 1993, Radio Hong Kong TV program "media spring and Autumn" talked about: "the Xu Jiajie incident contains elements such as underworld, weathering and justice, which attract the media to report. Has the media been used here?" It was also reported that Xu Jiajie had secretly contacted the Ministry of national security of the Beijing government. The Hong Kong government could not accept it, so Xu Jiajie was dismissed. All kinds of statements can not be confirmed.
Less than two weeks after the Hong Kong Island by election of the Legislative Council on December 2, 2007, Xu Jiajie held a press conference on November 21, accusing Chen Fangan of illegally obtaining 100% of the mortgage to buy a luxury house in 1993, questioning that Chen Fangan was privileged as a senior official of the Chief Secretary, and sent a letter to the Secretary for justice, Huang Renlong, for thorough investigation. The Democrats denounced this as an election project to discredit Chen fangansheng for the purpose of by election.
Get honor
On the evening of April 13, 2013, at the award ceremony of the 32nd Hong Kong Film Awards, Xu Jiajie won the best newcomer award of the Hong Kong Film Awards for his role as a senior official of the ICAC in the film "shivering". Xu Jiajie plays a senior role in the ICAC in shivering. He is also the immediate supervisor of ICAC investigation director played by Li zhiting. The inexperienced former executive was even praised as "the most competent actor" by the director because he "added soul" to the scene.
Director Liang Lemin revealed that when Deng hanqiang, one of the producers of "chill", shared the idea of the script with Xu Jiajie, the former deputy director of the Executive Office of the Hong Kong Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC), it was surprising that Xu Jiajie decided to take part in the script in person after reading the outline of the script and act as the script consultant.
Xu Jiajie was surprised that he won the best newcomer of the golden Picture award this time. He said that he felt that many artists could not get the award in their whole lives. He had no regrets about getting the award. He also did a lot in other fields and wrote many books.
