Character experience
As a child, Yuan Xian had a poor family. When he was eight years old, he was able to study at Jingzheng primary school in Huangxian county with the help of others. Jingzheng primary school is a church run school. This made yuan Xian initially contact with some knowledge of literature and art, music and so on.
It was these initial knowledge of music and literature that had a subtle influence on Yuan Xian in his childhood and had an important impact on his later life.
At the age of 13, Yuan Xian graduated from primary school. At this time, because of his father's unemployment, family life became more difficult. Yuan Xian could not continue to study any more, so he had to be introduced to a shoe shop in Yantai as an apprentice. Here, he experienced the hardships of life, but also saw the darkness of society, his heart began to look forward to looking for a bright road.
In 1938, after the outbreak of the Anti Japanese War, the iron hooves of the Japanese invaders trampled on the great mountains and rivers of the motherland, and the whole country set off a wave of Anti Japanese. At this time, Yuan Xian, who worked as a shop assistant in Yantai, heard that an anti Japanese team led by the Communist Party had arrived in Huangxian City, so he decided to join the Eighth Route Army and take the road of Anti Japanese with the Communist Party. After joining the army, Yuan Xian, who had been exposed to the knowledge of music and literature and art when he was studying, just caught up with the national defense troupe of Jiaodong military region. Just after its establishment, Yuan Xian entered the national defense troupe as he wished.
Although his life was hard and the environment was very bad, Yuan Xian was eager to study literature and art theory books, and his hard-working spirit left a deep impression on his comrades in arms. In the tough war environment, he overcame many difficulties and insisted on self-study. Whenever the army went to any place, the first thing he did was to look for useful books everywhere, so that he could read and study between work and absorb theoretical nutrition. His selfless learning spirit moved his comrades in arms and was praised by them as a "bookish man". It was during the war that Yuan Xian learned some literature and art theory books, such as introduction to music, harmony and acoustics, counterpoint method, and read such literary masterpieces as home, spring, autumn, thunderstorm, and sunrise. These literary theory books and Chinese and foreign literary masterpieces have laid a solid foundation for the improvement of acting skills and creation.
Later, through various channels, he found the theoretical works of famous Soviet directors Stanislavsky, Danchenko and others, and eagerly studied them, which greatly improved his literary quality and professional level.
In the third year of joining the army, Yuan Xian used his musical knowledge to create the song "Ode to Yashan". This is the first work reflecting the life of the army in the liberated area of Jiaodong. This work with fresh and beautiful melody and full of true feelings was later selected by "songs of the liberated area of Jiaodong" published by the literature and Art Publishing House of the people's Liberation Army.
In the same year, Yuan Xian created a song "struggle for the five periods of training" with a distinctive theme, in order to stimulate the fighting spirit of his comrades in arms. In 1942, after the Japanese aggressors carried out a sweeping campaign in Jiaodong, the liberated areas were in the dark period before dawn. Some people were depressed, and some even doubted how long the Anti Japanese war would last? At this time, the liberated areas are in great need of a fresh and clear song to boost morale. On a rainy night, Yuan Xian and Ma Shaobo sang while walking in the army. When they arrived at the camp, they quickly created the song "the sky is clear" and spread it all over the liberated area of Jiaodong. Whether in the army or in the local area, the song "the sky is clear" is sung everywhere. This song has a fresh, bright and vigorous style. On the march of the troops, it tells us that "the sky is clear, the rain is clearing up, and the destination is arriving soon." it calls on people to break through the darkness before dawn and march forward in the storm. The people of Jiaodong in the struggle were greatly inspired in spirit and became the spiritual pillar to encourage the people to carry on the Anti Japanese War to the end at that time.
Since then, Yuan Xian has successively composed many songs, such as "looking up at the top of the battle" (1942), "greeting 1943", "March of the militia", "good fight" (1943), "love soldiers and model in the music Pavilion" (1944), "mourning for the" 4.8 "martyrs" (1946). Some of them have also had an important impact and become one of the most famous composers in the liberated areas.
During the war of liberation, Yuan Xian went deep into the grass roots, collected a lot of materials, and created and published reportage "storm", drama "Yanqing roadside", "father and son", and Yangko opera "family photo". As a director, he also directed operas such as white haired girl, Liu Hulan, San Shiqiu, and drama catching strong men. He also plays many roles in opera and drama. These works and characters, which truly, vividly and profoundly reflect the life of the revolutionary struggle, have had a positive impact on the vast number of readers and audiences, and have become very popular literary and artistic workers among the soldiers and the masses in the liberated area of Jiaodong. Chen zhiang, a famous writer, gave a very high evaluation of Yuan Xian's works in his article on the songs of the liberated area of Jiaodong, and affirmed his outstanding and important position in the music creation of the liberated area of Jiaodong.
In the late 1950s, Yuan Xian has been working as a feature film director in Bayi film studio. He also served as the deputy director of the art room and became a member of the China Film Association. He has successively participated in or independently directed films such as menglongsha, blue sky master, riparian waves, etc., which are deeply loved by the masses. After smashing the gang of four, he actively responded to the call of the central leader to make films with great momentum and high artistic conception, praising the proletarian revolutionaries of the older generation. Regardless of his age, he was seriously ill. He took on the responsibility of the first director and made a large-scale revolutionary military feature film Zhongshan under the wind and rain. Due to its artistic innovation and breakthrough, the film has been warmly welcomed by audiences at home and abroad. It won the excellent film award issued by the Ministry of culture in 1983, the third "Golden Rooster Award" of Chinese film and the first military theme literary and Artistic Creation Award issued by the General Political Department of the PLA.
During the film shooting, Yuan Xian endured severe illness with amazing perseverance and worked day and night until the doctor found that he had multiple bone necrosis and four fractured ribs, and repeatedly urged him to go to the hospital. In his hospital bed, he was still concerned about the post production of the film and constantly put forward useful suggestions. He stayed in bed for two years, fighting against the disease, never being pessimistic. He also conceived and dictated a movie story that reflected the medical cause of the motherland, until he died.
