In 1965, he graduated from the music department (Opera Major) of PLA Academy of art.

In 1965, he served as an actor in the PLA General Administration Opera Troupe, with a 15 year career as a stage performer. In 1977, he won the performance award of the fourth military art performance conference.

From 1981 to 2000, he was a professor in the director's teaching and research section of the drama department of the PLA Academy of Arts, and taught for 20 years (retired).
