Chen Weiya was born in July 1956 in Nanjing. He is a famous contemporary Chinese director. He is a member of China Association for the promotion of Democracy (DPP). He was formerly the artistic director and deputy head of China Oriental Song and dance troupe. After September 2011, he served as the artistic director of Beijing performing arts group.
