Character evaluation
Chengyin's revolutionary historical films are unique in their true representation of historical scenes, epic grand narration, high spirited Lyric color and vivid characterization. His film ideal has always guided his film creation. With his persistent belief in film ideal, Cheng Yin directed one "red classic" after another through unremitting efforts, practiced his understanding of film art with his film works, and also conveyed and practiced his film creation ideal through his films. His revolutionary historical films try to reflect the strongest voice of the times through war stories or historical events, which has a high degree of historical generalization. Cheng Yin tried to capture the vivid scenes of historical life with a macro grasp of the revolutionary history, and restore the thrilling history in front of the audience with a powerful description of the scenes, including fighting scenes and historical scenes (MA Jingping, Nanjing Normal University).
