Kou Lai is a member of the Party group and leader of the discipline inspection group of the Party group of China Shipping (Group) Corporation, chairman of the board of supervisors of China shipping development, and supervisor of the company.

Mr. Kou has successively served as deputy director of Organization Department and director of Personnel Department of Shanghai maritime transport administration, director of Organization Department of China Shipping (Group) Corporation; Secretary and member of Discipline Inspection Committee of China Shipping (Group) Corporation from December 1997 to August 2000; member of Party group and leader of discipline inspection group of China Shipping (Group) Corporation since August 2000 Has extensive experience in managing shipping companies. Mr. Kou graduated from the Correspondence College of the Central Party School in 2001 and joined the company in June 2008.

In June 2011, he was no longer a leader of the group due to his age.
