Guo Jianguo loved sports since he was a child. He could run, jump and throw anything. Later, he became addicted to basketball and handball. After graduating from high school, he applied for the basketball major of Tianjin Institute of physical education. After graduating in 1982, he was assigned to Tianjin University of Finance and economics as a physical education teacher.
