Yu Benzheng
Yu Benzheng, Chinese film director. He is from Dandong, Liaoning Province. Born in Shanghai. In 1963, he graduated from the Directing Department of Shanghai Film Academy. In the same year, he served as the director of Shanghai Haiyan film studio. After 1987, he successively served as deputy director and director of Shanghai Film Studio. He left office in 1994 and served as deputy director of Shanghai Film Bureau and Art Committee of Shanghai Film Studio. His work sunrise won the best film award of the ninth Hundred Flowers Award and the first Shanghai Literature and Art Award; the purple crown won the Tongniu award.
Basic introduction
He was fond of literature since childhood. When he was in Shanghai Xingzhi middle school, he was interested in movies and plays. After graduating from high school in 1960, he was admitted to the Directing Department of Shanghai Film Academy. After graduating in 1963, he was assigned to work in Haiyan film studio.
In 1964, he took part in the shooting of "the young generation" in Tianma film studio. Later, he worked in Shanghai Film Studio. In 1975, he became a director. In 1976, he cooperated with Tang Xiaodan to shoot "unforgettable battle". With the guidance and help of Tang, he made rapid progress.
In 1979, Yu Benzheng and Tang Yinhua directed "when the mountain is full of red leaves". He kept improving and worked together to pursue a poetic, fresh and elegant style of the film. In 1985, he was the director of the first creative group of Shanghai Film Studio, and in 1987, he was the deputy director of Shanghai Film Studio. He was the factory director in 1989.
Sunrise, which was adapted from Cao Yu's drama of the same name in 1985, is the peak film of Yu Benzheng's career. It follows the original work and makes good use of cinematic techniques. It shows all kinds of people in old Shanghai incisively and vividly, and deeply conveys the spirit of the original work on the screen.
In 1987, Yu Benzheng focused his creative perspective on the theme of young people to shoot "the purple crown", which won the third children's film award of that year. As the director of Shanghai Film Studio, Yu Benzheng is busy with administrative work, but he still explores his own way in film creation.
