Character evaluation
An indelible name in the history of Taiwan pop music (Sina music review)
The most powerful thing about Weng Qingxi is that other composers of the same generation can only compose music, not arrange it. But he will, it's him who is closing up and making his own career. (comments by Li Xing)
Character controversy
Weng Qingxi pointed out that in 1986, LIGO records forged his signature and seal without authorization, and transferred the copyright of 157 songs he created to the company. The authorization period was from 1973 to 1988.
He protested. In June 1999, LIGO signed an agreement with him, which agreed that LIGO would be the sole agent of these songs for ten years. However, later, LIGO's business right was transferred, and no royalty was paid since 2003, so he had to claim his rights and interests.
The court held that from the content of the agreement, Weng Qingxi was the copyright owner of these songs, and he won the lawsuit. Taiwan's "Supreme Court" yesterday rejected LIGO's appeal, and the whole case was settled.
