He has been engaged in the research of pear resources and genetics and breeding since he joined the work. He has successively undertaken or presided over the projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China, national "863", Ministry of agriculture "948", National Science and technology support, national (agricultural) industry science and technology, key science and technology projects of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and key science and technology projects of Henan Province, and cultivated new varieties such as July crisp, August crisp, zaomeisu, Hongxiangsu, Zhongli 1, Zhonghua Yuli (Zhongli 3) and zaobaimi“ Hongxiangsu, a new variety of hongpi pear, was awarded the second prize of Henan science and Technology Progress Award in 2003 and 2006 respectively, and the second prize of science and technology progress award of Ministry of education was awarded the second prize of science and technology progress award of Ministry of education in 2003 In 2004, Zhongli No. 1 won the second prize of Jiangsu Province Science and Technology Progress Award (the third complete adult). In 2003, Zhongli No. 1 won the national plant new variety protection right. He has published 48 academic papers, 12 popular science articles and 5 books in Journal of horticulture, Journal of fruit trees and China fruit tree. It has made great contribution to the construction of pear discipline and the development of pear industry in China.
