He graduated from the Department of agrometeorology, China Agricultural University in 1968. In 1980, he studied in the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and obtained a master of Science degree. From 1987 to 1991, he studied in the school of forest resources, University of Washington, USA, engaged in the study and research of near surface physics, micrometeorology and computer application, and obtained a doctor's degree. In 1992, he returned to China and worked in the Institute of agrometeorology, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. At the end of 1996, he was transferred to the Institute of agricultural information, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences as the director of the system office and engaged in agricultural information technology research. He once served as a Chinese expert in charge of the research on the scientific and technological cooperation of sustainable agricultural development between China and Japan, and a member of the degree appraisal committee of the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. At present, he is vice chairman of computer agriculture application branch of Chinese agricultural society, director of information technology branch of Chinese animal husbandry and Veterinary Society, visiting researcher of science and Technology Information Research Institute of Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and part-time professor of Information School of Shanghai Fisheries University.
