Liu Zihua
Liu Zihua was born in Jianyang County, Sichuan Province in 1899. He went to France to study in 1919. He was one of the earliest Chinese to study in France. He received a doctorate from the University of Paris in 1943. He devoted himself to the study of astronomy, which reveals the mystery of celestial bodies in the universe. Using the eight trigrams principle of Yi ology, he speculated that there was the tenth largest planet in the solar system. Liu Zihua returned to China in 1945, served as a counsellor of Sichuan Provincial People's Government in 1952, and died in 1992.
Social evaluation
Liu Zihua's hometown Jianyang, Sichuan Province, established the Liu Zihua academic research association to erect statues and build a memorial hall for him, because "although Liu Zihua is not very well-known in China, he is a great scientist as famous as Copernicus in the West."
In January 1930, American astronomer Tang Bao discovered Pluto, the ninth planet in the solar system. Immediately someone asked, is there a 10th planet in the solar system? Due to the fact that Pluto was discovered not long ago and the observation data were not accurate, efforts to predict the tenth planet failed one after another. Liu Zihua, a 27 year old Chinese who worked and studied in France at that time, was determined to make a new life and not rely on Newton's law of universal gravitation to predict the 10th planet in the solar system. Liu Zihua did not conceive out of thin air. He found that there was a corresponding relationship between the stars of the solar system and the positions of the eight trigrams. Based on this relationship, he calculated with astronomical parameters, and proved that the average orbital velocity and density of the star to which each corresponding hexagram belongs are a density value respectively. After repeated calculations, Liu Zihua was the first to calculate the average orbital speed of the 10th planet, which is 2km per second, with a density of 0.424g per cubic centimeter, and an average distance of 7.4 billion kilometers from the sun. According to the naming principle of Greek mythology, the planet behind Pluto is called Pluto“

In 1939, Liu Zihua wrote his prediction into a book entitled《
Bagua cosmology and modern astronomy
——The prediction of a new planet: the position of the sun and moon at the time of birth was submitted to the University of Paris in France as a dissertation for the doctoral degree.
In 1940, the doctoral evaluation committee of the University of Paris confirmed that the thesis was qualified for a doctoral degree. In view of the academic value and influence of the thesis, the Ministry of education of France made an exception to subsidize 3000 francs and officially published the thesis in Paris. During the three-year public debate from 1940 to 1943, no one could put forward a negative opinion on this doctoral dissertation. In 1943, Liu Zihua was officially awarded a doctoral degree by the University of Paris in France. The article "eight trigrams cosmology and modern astronomy" is a research achievement made by Mr. Liu Zihua by combining the basic principles of traditional Chinese culture "I Ching" with modern western science. His theory and prediction of the existence of the 10th largest planet in the solar system are a new theoretical hypothesis in astronomy. This is a great contribution made by Chinese scientists to shake the world by using the eight diagrams of Taiji in modern times. The ancient Chinese eight diagrams of Taiji have made many contributions to modern science.
On August 24, 2006, Pluto was excluded from the list of nine major planets by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) and officially reduced to a dwarf planet.

Researchers claim: as early as 65 years ago, astronomer Liu Zihua used the eight trigrams in the book of changes to speculate the 10th largest planet!
On January 4, 2006, Beijing Science and Technology Daily published an article listing "the 10th planet predicted by eight trigrams" as "the sixth of China's top ten science and technology scams in 2005", which was reprinted by Beijing Youth Daily, Sina, Sohu and NetEase.

On July 29, 2005, American scientists announced the discovery of the 10th planet in the solar system. Shortly after the event, some media reported that the Chinese had predicted the planet 65 years ago, and the predictor was Liu Zihua, a doctor studying in France (born in Jianyang, Sichuan Province, who died in 1992). On August 10, 2005, a newspaper in Beijing published an article by Fang Shimin (Fang Zhouzi) commenting on the matter, saying that "this kind of absurd and almost laughable nonsense has been appraised by Einstein. It's not that we underestimate Einstein's intelligence.". At the end of 2005, a newspaper in Beijing listed "top ten planets predicted by gossip experts" as the sixth of "top ten science and technology scams in China in 2005". In June, Zeng Yushang, Liu Zihua's widow and 80 year old, filed a lawsuit against Fang Zhouzi and related media.
The Beijing Second Intermediate People's court held in the first instance judgment on the 21st that Fang Shimin's writing questioned the scientificity of the "eight trigrams cosmology", but he used such vilified and insulting words as "a person who deceives the world and steals fame" and "a warlock from China" to describe Liu Zihua, and his behavior constituted an infringement on Liu's right of reputation. The court ordered Fang Shimin, the defendant, to issue a written statement of apology for the damage to Liu's reputation in two newspapers and three major websites in Beijing within 30 days. Fang Zhouzi and a newspaper each compensated the plaintiff 20000 yuan in spiritual solace.
The plaintiff's lawyer, Beijing Hualian law firm, believes that the amount of compensation is too low. When he learned that the defendant was determined to appeal, the lawyer immediately said: "we are waiting for you at any time, and we still claim 2.5 million.
