Chen Zhong
Chen Zhong, born on November 22, 1982 in Jiaozuo City, Henan Province, is a Chinese Taekwondo Athlete and Olympic champion.
He was selected into the national training team in January 1997. In 2000, Chen Zhong took part in the Asian Championships and won the gold medal of women's 72kg and above in the Asian Championships; on September 30 of the same year, he won the gold medal of women's 67kg and above in the 27th Sydney Olympic Games; in 2004, he won the gold medal of this event by playing against baverel in the finals of women's 72kg and above in Athens Olympic Games and defending it with a final score of 12:5.
Early experience
Before learning Taekwondo, Chen Zhong played basketball in Jiaozuo amateur basketball school for four years. In 1995, he began to practice taekwondo, entered the competitive sports school of Beijing Sport University, coach Chen Liren; because of the rapid progress, he won the national championship in 1996.
He was selected into the national training team in January 1997. He graduated from Beijing Sports School in 2000 and entered the sports department of Beijing Sport University.
Sports career
In 1999, Chen Zhong won his first international gold medal at the world military games. In June of the same year, Chen Zhong took part in the women's 72kg class of the 7th Taekwondo World Championships in Alberta, Canada, and won the bronze medal.
In 2000, Chen Zhong took part in the Asian Championships and won the women's championship of more than 72kg. On September 30 of the same year, in the women's championship of more than 67kg in the 27th Sydney Olympic Games, Li Ke's opponent Ivanova of Russia won the first Olympic gold medal for China and the first Olympic gold medal in the history of World Taekwondo, realizing the breakthrough from "zero" to "zero" of Chinese Taekwondo.
In 2002, Chen Zhong was injured in an accident on his right leg, and his condition fell to a low point. At the Busan Asian Games in November of the same year, she lost to South Korea's Cui Zhenmei in the final and only won the silver medal of more than 72 kg. After the Asian Games, Chen Zhong was supposed to have an operation. In order to participate in the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, Chen Zhong decided to keep training with injuries.

In 2004, Chen Zhong, who was back on the Olympic field, was more comprehensive in technique and varied in tactics. In Athens Olympic Games, the women's 72kg team defended the gold medal with a final score of 12:5 against bavere.
At the beginning of 2005, Chen Zhong underwent surgery and gave up the world championships that year.
The Doha Asian Games in December 2006 was Chen Zhong's first appearance after his comeback. In the competition, she passed all the way and finally defeated evgenia of Uzbekistan and won the championship of over 72kg.
In May 2007, Chen Zhong participated in the 11th women's Taekwondo Championship held in Changping, Beijing, and used the new move "turn 360 degrees and split leg" to help him win the gold medal in the competition of over 72kg.
In August 2008, Chen Zhong took part in the Olympic Games for the third time. In the Beijing Olympic Games women's 67 kg class quarter final, Chen Zhong and Stevenson were very cautious in the competition. Until the last moment, Chen Zhong still led 1:0. Stevenson kicked Chen Zhong in the head just before the end, but the four linesmen didn't score the British players. According to the rules, three of the four judges must confirm the score to be considered valid. At that time, the chief referee also called four linesmen to study on the field, but finally decided Stevenson didn't score and Chen Zhong won. However, when Chen Zhong was about to take part in the semi-finals, the competition arbitration committee suddenly issued a notice, and the British team filed a complaint after the game. After the arbitration, the British player's score was valid, and Stevenson won the game 2-1. Chen Zhong also lost the qualification to advance to the semi-finals, so Chen Zhong did not get his third Olympic champion. In the same year, Chen Zhong took part in the women's 72kg class of the Asian Championships and won the championship.
In 2009, Chen Zhong chose to retire.

On October 10, 2008, Chen Zhong and her boyfriend Che Xingang, who has been in love for six years, were married in Beijing.
In July 2009, Chen Zhong gave birth to a son.

Since his retirement from the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, Chen Zhong has set up his own Taekwondo technology development company, the first Taekwondo Hall in Beijing Olympic Sports Center, and then set up branches in Jinan, Qingdao, Wuhan, Changchun and other places.
In June 2011, Chen Zhong returned to his hometown Zhengzhou and cooperated with Guangzhou martial arts museum to set up a Taekwondo Hall named after himself, which was opened in Zhengzhou gymnasium.

In April 2011, Chen Zhong, who studied in the United States, flew from Indiana to San Diego to attend a five-day conference on the theme of "American Physical Education" on the recommendation of Beijing Sports University. The purpose of this paper is to emphasize that physical education should start with children, encourage sports and attach importance to the safety of physical education.
On August 19, 2012, Chen Zhong participated in the seventh stop of "Olympic athletes' public service action" held by the Chinese Olympic Committee in the second middle school of Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and had interaction and exchange with many middle school students.
