Lin Youren

Lin Youren (1938-2013), whose ancestral home is Taiwan, was born in Shanghai in 1938 and settled in Nanjing. He is a famous zither player.

Character experience

Lin Youren began to study Qin in 1956. He was enlightened by Xia Yifeng of Jinling school, followed Liu Shaochun of Guangling school, and graduated from Shanghai Conservatory of music in 1963 under the guidance of national music master Wei Zhongle. During this period, he was also studied by Liu jingshao, a pianist of mei'an school, Gu Meitang, a pianist of Sichuan school, and Shen Caonong. For decades, he has been working in the Music Research Institute of Shanghai Conservatory of music. He has a lot of experience in the research and teaching of ancient Chinese music history and guqin, especially in the connotation and characteristics of Chinese music culture.

Mr. Lin is one of the few traditional Qin players who can represent the temperament, charm and humanistic spirit of Chinese Qin music. Its performance style is simple and natural, with mellow charm and long artistic conception. Its teaching method, also known as "Song Zhong Gong", is not only unique, but also inherits the traditional spirit. It enables students to return to self-cultivation from the beginning of learning to relax their mind, relieve the pressure, fully understand the connotation and artistic conception of Qin Tao, so as to achieve physical and mental harmony and enrichment, which is extremely rare.
