Yang Hao
Yang Hao (586-618) was born in Hongnong Huayin (now Huayin City, Shaanxi Province). The emperor of Sui Dynasty, the grandson of Yang Jian, Emperor Wen of Sui Dynasty, and the eldest son of Yang Jun, King Xiao of Qin Dynasty.
His mother, Princess Cui, poisoned his father, Yang Jun. Yang Hao was disqualified as a son of the world because of his crime. Yang Guang ascended the throne, inherited the title of King Qin, and conferred the title of commander Heyang. Yu Wen, the general of the left guard, said that when he attacked Yang Xuangan and made trouble, he made friends with him and was dismissed from his post.
In 618, yuwenhuaji launched the change of Jiangdu, killed Yang Guang and established Yang Hao as emperor. After he ascended the throne, he worshiped yuwenhuaji as the prime minister and took charge of the government. Later, yuwenhuaji was deposed and poisoned.
Life experience
Mother and son
Yang Hao is the eldest son of Yang Jun, the filial king of Qin Dynasty. According to Zizhitongjian, his mother Cui gave birth to a son in October of the sixth year of kaihuang (586), but it is impossible to confirm whether he was Yang Hao. On June 20, the 20th year of kaihuang (600), Yang Hao's father Yang Jun died. After investigation, it was the Cui family, the princess of Qin and Yang Hao's mother, who poisoned Yang Jun and was ordered by Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty to abolish and kill him.
Yang Jun has only two sons, Yang Hao and Yang Zhan. Yang Hao was born to Cui, and Yang Zhan is Yang Jun's concubine. The officials deliberated that the spring and Autumn Annals said that "the mother is precious to the son, and the son is precious to the mother.". On the contrary, once the mother is guilty, the son is also guilty. In the Western Han Dynasty, Li Ji was guilty and her son Liu Rong was deposed. In the Eastern Han Dynasty, empress Guo was deposed and her son Liu Qiang was deposed. Now, the mothers of Yang Jun's two sons are deposed for their respective sins and should not inherit the throne. Therefore, the bereaved owner of the Qin palace was an official, not brother Yang Hao.
Abolish the nobility and remove the official
In 604, Yang Hao's uncle Yang Guang ascended the throne. On September 13, the second year of Daye (606), Yang Guangfeng made Yang Hao king of Qin as the successor of Yang Jun, the filial king of Qin. He also named Yang Zhan, Yang Hao's younger brother, Marquis of Ji Bei. Later, Yang Hao served as the commander of Heyang.
In the ninth year of Daye (613), Yang Xuangan rebelled. General Zuo Yiwei yuwenshu led his troops to fight against him. When he arrived at Heyang, he wrote to Yang Hao. Yang Hao went to yuwenshu's barracks again, and the soldiers went back and forth several times. The relevant departments impeached Yang Hao to associate with his inner ministers as a vassal, so Yang Hao was deposed from the throne and removed from office.
Puppet emperor
In March of 618, yuwenhuaji killed Yang Guang and prepared to make the king of Shu Yang Xiu emperor. The public opinion thought that it was no good, so he killed Yang Xiu and his seven sons. He also killed the king of Qi Yang Min and his second son, the king of Yan Yang Min, the imperial clan and relatives of the Sui Dynasty, no matter young or old. Only Yang Hao had a close relationship with Yu Wenzhi, Yu Wenzhi's younger brother, so Yu Wenzhi managed to save him. In the same month, Yu wenhuaji, who called himself the prime minister, appointed Yang Hao emperor by the order of empress Xiao, the empress of emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty. He changed his name to Tianshou and lived in another palace. He only asked Yang Hao to sign and issue imperial edicts, but still sent troops to supervise him.
Soon, Yuwen Huaji led 100000 soldiers back to Chang'an, and Yang Hao was coerced to go with him. Yuwen Huaji was defeated by Li Mi, the leader of Wagang army in Gongxian County, and led the remaining 20000 people to flee to Weixian county (now the north of the river is called the South). In September, Yuwen Huaji sent someone to poison Yang Hao and became emperor. He changed his name to Xu and his year to Tianshou.
