Chien Shang Jen
Jane Shangren, musician from Taiwan, China. He has a master's degree in music from National Normal University and a doctor's degree in Ethnomusicology from University of Sheffield.
Personal resume
In 1977, he won the first golden rhyme Award for "January melody", which is an important turning point in his music career. Since then, he has devoted himself to the collection, collation, creation and promotion of Taiwan's local music. In the past 30 years, he has traveled all over the world. In 1983, Taiwan folk music performance group "Tianyuan Yuefu" was established. At present, he is the president of Taiwan Branch of Kodaly International Music Education Association, and also an associate professor and head of pastoral music hall of National Hsinchu University of education, Taipei University of education and National Tsinghua University.
Personal experience
1977: he won the golden rhyme Award for composition for his song "January melody". 1983: a rural music office was formed to promote Taiwan's music culture. From the city to the country, from the music hall to the wild, so far, more than 300 performances have been performed and training activities have been held all over Taiwan. 1984: went to Tokyo, Japan to attend the first Asian poets conference and published Taiwan folk songs and poetry. 1987: went to Canada to participate in the Taiwan Literature Research Association and published "out of the future of Taiwan Ballads - enhancing the temperament of Taiwan ballads through literature". 1987: at the invitation of the Taiwan Association in the United States, he went to the Taiwan Association in the East and west of the United States to talk and sing "Taiwanese folk songs" and "history of Taiwanese folk songs". 1987: awarded "Taiwan social education meritorious person Award" by Taiwan provincial government. 1990: set up a music studio, produced and published the CD of the complete works of Taiwan's songs (1) (2) (3), and won the excellent record award issued by the information bureau. 1990: won the "career achievement award" from the Rotary Club of Taipei West District. 1991: awarded "caring for Taiwan society and humanities Award" by New Jersey caring for Taiwan Foundation. 1991: in August, the official release of "rural Yuefu · yuexun" included Taiwan local music discourses, works and activities reports, with a total of 16 issues.

At the invitation of the Taiwan Association of the East and west of the United States, he performed "rap Taiwan folk songs". 1997: at the invitation of Taidong County Cultural Center, he taught and planned the study activity of "understanding and overall application of Taiwan local music" (eight weeks, 32 hours in total) to train talents engaged in Taiwan local music work. 1998: at the invitation of the Taiwan Association in New York, USA, he sang ten songs and ten stories at the Taiwan Association in New York. 1998: Taiwan Children's singing drama "crucian carp wants to marry someone" (Taipei County Government, Taipei County Cultural Foundation and Taipei Social Education Center) was released at the Taipei County Cultural Center (November 29) and Taipei Social Education Center (December 19).
