Ding Shande
Ding Shande (1911-1995), a native of Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province, was born in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province. He was admitted to Shanghai National Conservatory of music in 1928 and began to learn pipa. One year later, he turned to piano. In 1934, he Lu Ting's award-winning works "shepherd boy Piccolo" and "Lullaby" were premiered and recorded. He was the first pianist in China to record. He once served as a professor of Shanghai Conservatory of music, director and vice president of composition department, and successively served as the third and fourth vice president of China Musicians Association. His major works include large-scale instrumental music "Long March Symphony", "new China Symphony Orchestra", chorus "Ode to Huangpu River", etc. Among them, the symphony of the long march is the first large orchestral work with the theme of the great historical event of the long march of the Chinese workers' and peasants' Red Army.

From 1917 to 1928, when studying in his hometown, he taught himself erhu, flute, Pipa and organ.
In the autumn of 1928, he was admitted to Shanghai National Conservatory of music and graduated in 1935. In the autumn of that year, he was employed as a professor of Music Department of Tianjin Hebei women's normal university.
In 1937, he returned to his alma mater to teach. In 1941, the school was transformed into a private Shanghai Conservatory of music.
In 1945, he successively composed the piano suite "journey in spring" and "Piano Sonata in E major".
In October 1947, he went to Paris Conservatory of music to study under the guidance of N. Brownie and a. oneg. During his stay in France, his main works include: three overtures for Piano and variations on the theme of Chinese folk songs.
In September 1949, he returned to China and taught in Shanghai Conservatory of music as professor and director of theoretical composition department. One by one, we have compiled such teaching materials as single counterpoint method, multiple counterpoint method and Fugue writing technique.
In 1947, he went to Paris Conservatory to study composition. The tutors were Professor Blanche and Professor wopen.
In 1949, after returning to China, he taught in Shanghai Conservatory of music for a long time, and successively served as vice president and director of composition department. He was the judge of Berlin International Schumann Piano Competition (1956), Poland International Chopin Piano Competition (1960) and Belgium Queen Elizabeth International Piano Competition (1964). He has held individual piano recitals for many times in China. In 1956, he served as vice president of Shanghai Conservatory of music, vice chairman of Shanghai Branch of China Musicians Association, President of Shanghai Music Publishing House and vice chairman of China Musicians Association. He has visited abroad for many times and has been the judge of R. Schumann international competition, the 6th Chopin International Piano Competition and Queen Elizabeth International Music Competition of Belgium. Ding Shande (November 12, 1911 to December 8, 1995) was born in Yushan Town, Kunshan, Jiangsu Province. He graduated from Kunshan county middle school in 1928. When he was in school, he loved music very much. He had extensive contact with folk music and taught himself erhu, flute, Sanxian, Pipa and organ. He was the leader of national music group of Kunshan county middle school.
In the autumn of 1928, he was admitted to the Piano Department of the National Conservatory of music. First, he learned pipa, harmony and orchestration from Zhu Xingqing, Li Fangyuan's direct disciple. A year later, he studied piano from chaharov, a former Piano Professor at St. Petersburg conservatory.
Since 1931, he has been teaching in Shanghai Art College. During the September 18th Incident, he wrote the patriotic song forty thousand compatriots.
Fruitful
During the school period, he won the scholarship for excellent students for six years, and often participated in performances both inside and outside the school. He served as a piano, lute solo, solo and duet program, and was honored as "four King Kong" with his classmates Yu Yixuan, Li Xianmin and Dai zilun.
In 1935, he graduated from the advanced class of piano group of music undergraduate with excellent results, and held a special Graduation Concert for himself. He was the first Chinese musician to hold a piano solo concert. After that, he applied to be a professor of Music Department of Hebei women's Normal University, and held personal concerts in Tianjin and Beijing. He was active in the Chinese music world as a pianist. During the Anti Japanese War, he founded the Shanghai Conservatory in Shanghai (later renamed as Shanghai Private Music College). He personally presided over the work of the conservatory, engaged in music education activities, and concurrently taught in the National Music College of his alma mater.
Since 1942, Frankel, a German Jewish composer, began to study composition. In the past five years, he has systematically transferred to composition. His famous work was written in 1945's piano suite journey in spring. After the victory of the Anti Japanese War, he once served as the Piano Professor of Nanjing National Conservatory of music.

He died in Shanghai on December 8, 1995.
