In view of his outstanding achievements in the protection, inheritance and creation of folk culture, he was awarded the title of "first class folk craft artist" by UNESCO in 1996. In 1958, he worked as an art teacher in Weifang middle school and devoted his spare time to the reform of New Year pictures. In 1970, he transferred the teaching materials group of Shandong Province to edit the fine arts teaching materials for primary and secondary schools in Shandong Province. In 1973, he was transferred to Changwei to set up the fine arts department. In 1982, he transferred to Weixian New Year pictures Research Institute and later renamed it as Weifang Yangjiabu New Year pictures Research Institute. In 1991, he transferred to Weifang Institute of Arts and crafts, and worked on New Year's pictures for his own profit and loss until he retired. In 1998, he returned to his hometown Qingyunshan folk amusement park and founded the New Year pictures Museum.
