In the 1980s, there was a trend in Singapore. The young generation, especially the students on campus, began to write and sing songs by themselves, singing their attitude and understanding of life with their own voice. This is also the "new ballad" that flourished for a time. When he was 16 years old, Liang Wenfu wrote his first song "write a song to you" after he failed in the school debate competition. Since then, he began his new ballad career and became one of the "important pioneers and promoters" of the new ballad.
Later, many Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia singers in the Chinese music world chose to sing Liang Wenfu's works. It is not so much that they sing Liang Wenfu's songs that they are popular, but rather that Liang Wenfu writes them. Indeed, without Liang Wenfu, there would have been no literary and artistic songs in Singapore. This shows that Liang Wenfu has a high musical attainments. When his works go deep into the hearts of the people, they do not lose the elegant literary sentiment; in the promotion of the concept of music and literature, they do not fall into the desolation of nobility -- I believe this is the so-called modern talent.
In the 1980s, he was a well-known student singer and creative talent in Singapore and Malaysia. He composed the local feelings and collective memory of a generation. In the 1990s, he was one of the important drivers behind the international trend of Singapore's music. He showed the characteristics of Singapore's music and literature to the Chinese world through his Ci and music. From "flowing water", "step by step", "Singapore school", "the eve of history examination" to "worry", "every time I wake up", "no one", "she came to listen to my concert"; from the last century to this century, the top artists and excellent singers of different generations in the three places on both sides of the Taiwan Straits have performed his lyrics and songs and become classics.
In 2007, the Chinese musical "come back when it's cold", which was written by Du Guowei and artistic director Guo Jianhong, was praised as the most successful Chinese musical in Singapore.
In 2010, the musical "rainy season" was staged again. Liang Wenfu greatly revised the script, wrote many new words, and wrote many new songs with Ye Liangjun.
