Ruan Shichun was born in Hong Kong in 1949 and studied wood engineering. He joined the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra in 1974 and has been the chief of Liuqin since 1987.
Since 1980, he has been employed by the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the music and statistics office to train a number of outstanding musicians for Hong Kong and Taiwan. He Shuo Wen is also the director of the Chinese National Orchestra Society and a number of musical instrument factories at home and abroad. In 1993, he was employed as a member of the "musical instrument reform expert group" of the Ministry of culture and a member of the evaluation committee of the science and technology progress award. The improved musical instruments record albums and records for many radio and television stations in many countries. Their performances and lectures cover Asia, Europe, Oceania and the United States. For more than 20 years, Fei insisted on the reform of musical instruments, restored and produced Ruan Xian and Qu Xiang Pipa made in Tang Dynasty, and reformed the double resonance box Liuqin series and Ruan Cheng series. It won one third prize of national science and Technology Progress Award and two second prizes of Ministry of culture.
