Gain prestige
Although Guo Wenjing also had the helpless years of working in China but mainly for foreign countries, his works are still obviously different from those composers who have lived abroad for many years, such as Tan Dun, Chen Qigang, Chen Yi, Sheng Zongliang and so on. For example, Tan Dun's operas Marco Polo, Peony Pavilion, tea and even Qin Shihuang all have English lyrics, Guo Wenjing's operas diary of a madman, banquet and Fengyi Pavilion all have Chinese lyrics, and so should his new work Li Bai; Chen Qigang wrote a dream of a French woman, Guo Wenjing wrote Mu Guiying and Hua Mulan; Chen Yi wrote commemorative poems Guo Wenjing wrote "Oriental red sun" and "heroic Symphony" to commemorate the Chinese party and country in "tea" of the "September 11" incident in the United States; Sheng Zongliang composed "China dream" and "Postcard" in memory, and Guo Wenjing composed "voice of Tibet" and "far journey" with first-hand materials Tan Dun and others, who have lived abroad for many years, are more and more limited to the materials accumulated in their early years in China to compose music with Chinese characteristics. They are more and more using the social culture of their resident country as the music performance theme, and their first goal is to get the recognition and love of foreign audiences. However, their fellow student Guo Wenjing is still committed to his native land and is still in touch with the music of his native land for the first time Influenced by the life of his native land, Guo Wenjing is a much more authentic Chinese composer than Tan Dun. Therefore, the New York Times once called him "the only Chinese composer who has not lived abroad for a long time and has established an international reputation.".
