Kangding Love Song
Kangding Love song, also known as running horse on the mountain, is a representative traditional folk song in Xikang area. It was composed by Wu Wenji and Jiang Dingxian and sung by Yu Yixuan in Nanjing on April 19, 1947. Since then, "Kangding Love Song" spread throughout the country, and its reputation spread abroad, and was loved by people all over the world.
Song background
Most people think that the folk song is developed by the folk song. An old man said that the Kangding Love song they heard in Kangding when they were teenagers was not sung like this today. At that time, it was like this: "on the mountain where the horse is running, a beautiful cloud is shining on the door of sister dolo. Only sister dolo can be a beautiful person. She will be a beautiful home and a beautiful person.". There was also a beautiful legend at that time. There was a Tibetan girl named Duoluo selling Songguang in Kangding city. She was beautiful and unparalleled in the world. Kangding was called "Songguang Xishi". Every morning she goes to the streets to sell Songguang. As long as people in Kangding hear her calling Songguang, they have to open the doors and windows and look out. Some of them want to buy Songguang, but more of them want to see the beauty of Songguang. The love song of Kangding is DORO. This may be the earliest prototype of Kangding Love song. According to the age of the elderly, Kangding Love songs were born in the 1920s. In 1946, when Wu Wenji was a music and culture teacher, he was attracted by the melody of "liuliudiao", which was hummed by a groom. After sorting out, adapting or processing, he named it "the mountain of running horses". Some people think that Li yiruo fell in love with a classmate with the same surname Li when he was studying in Chengdu University about 1930. Li is from Kangding. When Li yiruo and his girlfriend went to paomashan in Kangding to play together, they compiled a "horse racing song" according to Bashan's "Liuliu tune" and sang it to "Li's Liuliu elder sister" to show their love (later "Kangding Love Song"). Because of the opposition of his family and people, the marriage failed. His family didn't give him money to study. Later, with the help of his adoptive father Shi tiyuan (then director of the Finance Department of Sichuan Province) and Miss Li, he completed his college education. Li yiruo's friends of the same age and his widow, the old man Zhao, have heard him sing this "horse racing song" many times. Therefore, they firmly believe that the original author of Kangding Love song is Li yiruo. A man named ou Mingxue said: Li yiruo taught him to sing this song when he went to his house to have a drink. He also said that the name of the song is Kangding City song, and the words in it are good at working, and it's the elder brother of Li family, not the elder brother of Zhang family now. In Madu, I found that the local dialect is the same as that of the whole county. There are many dialects, such as Duanduan, good talents, being able to be the master of the family, and the moon is winding. Madu's folk songs often use Liuliu and Lianlian as lining words. some people think that Kangding Love song is a folk song created by the farmers and herdsmen in the yalagou area outside the North pass of Kangding, which belongs to "liuliudiao". Originally, there were only the first three paragraphs. In the early 1940s, the children of Kangding loved to sing this song when they were "spending the night with the bride" (the night before marriage) or joking about "the love between children and girls". The words "elder sister Li" and "elder brother Zhang" were usually temporarily changed to the surnames of the woman and the man in front of them. During the Anti Japanese War, the earliest collector of this folk song in Chongqing was musician Zheng shamei. At that time, he was a professor of the National Academy of drama, and also taught in jieshichang national frontier school. During the collection of Kangding folk songs, Kangding students Cao Sufang, Qiao Shuyuan, Li Peiyuan, sun Yuhua, etc. sang many folk songs to him, including the song "running on the mountain" in 1944 autumn.
Song arrangement
Wu Wenji
After the Japanese launched the Pacific War in 1941, Wu Wenji took part in the Chinese expeditionary army in Ganzi, Xikang (now Ganzi, Sichuan Province) and worked as a cultural and music teacher. During this period, he often walked around Kangding city to observe and understand the people's situation. In 1946, the melody of liuliudiao, which was hummed by a groom, attracted him. After sorting, adapting or processing, Kangding Love song, which is now famous in the world, was finally born. At that time, he named the song "running horse on the mountain". In order to show the high degree of freedom of marriage and love of Kangba people more fully and clearly, he added the lyrics of "the world's slick women let you love yo, the world's slick men let you beg yo...". This Sichuan folk song, later named Kangding Love song, has been put on the music stage of China and the world, during which Yu Yixuan and Jiang Dingxian have made great contributions. Wu Wenji's Bole identity should be fully respected by the music industry because of his tragic experience in the latter half of his life: it is respect for people, history and truth.
Jiang Dingxian
In 1946, in order to sing at the teachers and students' Party of Nanjing National Conservatory of music, Wu Wenji asked his teacher, Mr. Jiang Dingxian, director of the composing department, to compose a piano accompaniment score for the song "running on the mountain", which was discovered and artistically processed by him. At that time, Jiang Dingxian didn't have a piano beside him, but he enthusiastically used the organ to make accompaniment for this folk song, adding to the icing on the cake. He also included in his collection of five string folk songs: Professor Wang Zhenya, who was Wu Wenji's classmate at that time and is now a highly respected composer, witnessed the scene with his own eyes. In April 2002, Professor Yu Yixuan's students Fang Huisheng, Wen Youren and general manager Guo Changping of Ganzi daily visited two professors, Yu Yixuan and Wang Zhenya. They unanimously denied the rumor that the song was written by Wang Luobin, the "king of Western songs", and clearly affirmed Wu Wenji's Bole position. At the Party of Nanjing National Conservatory of music in 1947, accompanied by Jiang Dingxian's piano score, Wu Dingqian was the first person to sing "on the mountain running horse". Soon afterwards, singer Yu Yixuan's solo at the official concert was a great success, which made Kangding Love Song become a lotus and began to attract the world's attention. In 1948, Shanghai Greater China Record Company recorded Yu Yixuan's "Kangding Love Song". The words on the record are Yu Yixuan's singing and Jiang Dingxian's composing. At that time, Jiang Dingxian was a leading figure in China's music industry and had a strong "brand effect". Wu Wenji was just his student. He was gentle, courteous and frugal. His collection, processing or adaptation of folk songs can have such a gratifying impact on the world. He will be completely satisfied with such a sense of achievement. Of course, I will not entangle with my teacher on "name" and lower my noble personality. It was natural for the social elite who grew up in that era to treat people and deal with affairs in this way.
Yu Yixuan and Kangding Love Song
In March 2005, Yu Yixuan, who was 97 years old, was interviewed by CCTV and talked about the song and her chance. Yu said that she got the song in the spring of 1947, when she went to Nanjing for a solo concert and invited her old classmate Mr. Jiang Dingxian to accompany him. When Mr. Jiang was accompanying, he said that he had a very valuable collection of folk songs and wanted to give it to Mr. Yu. Mr. Yu immediately read it from beginning to end. There were not many songs, and it was a very thin collection of folk songs. She turned to the last song, Kangding Love song. She didn't pay much attention to other songs, but this song aroused her great interest. Yu said that she fell in love with the song at first sight. On April 19, 1947, in Nanjing International Club, due to a sudden power failure, the theater staff took out spare candles and put them in the high footed candlestick. Mr. Yu sang "on the mountain running horse" (Kangding Love Song) in the flickering candlelight. Since then, "running on the mountain" has become her repertoire. In July 1948, general Zhang Zhizhong, then director of Xingyuan in Northwest China and chairman of Xinjiang Province, invited Yu Yixuan to sing in Northwest China. She held two concerts in Lanzhou City, and was warmly welcomed. She also gave another one in Lanzhou University, and held a unique open-air concert in a valley surrounded by mountains on three sides in the suburb of Lanzhou. The venue was filled with tens of thousands of audiences, which made a sensation. Later, she held two recitals in Dihua (now Urumqi). With her very successful singing, young men and women who love singing will occasionally hum the melody of "a smooth cloud on the mountain running horse". From then on, Kangding Love song became popular in China, spread to Taiwan, which had just returned to China after World War II, and spread to overseas Chinese campuses and literary societies in Southeast Asia. In May and June 1949, Yu Yixuan held solo concerts in Paris, France, and London, England. In the program, Kangding Love song was always in the spotlight, and explained that it was a folk song of Kangding in Southwest China. Note: these three articles are published in Jimei alumni, issue 1, 2007, Chen Lixiong; alumni Wu Wenji and Kangding Love song; Wang Qingcheng, issue 4, 2007, unfinished story of Kangding Love song; and Wu zhencong, my mentor Wu Wenji.
