Li Guohui
Li Guohui (1910-1980), born in Wu'an County, Hebei Province, is the 709 commander of the Eighth Army of the Chinese Kuomintang. After the collapse of the Chinese Kuomintang in the mainland in 1950, Li Guohui led 2000 people to flee to the golden triangle area in northern Thailand and set up the rejuvenation army of the Republic of China. Li Guohui was the General Commander. This lone army defeated the Thai army, and Chiang Kai Shek appointed Li Mi, the Eighth Army of the 13th corps, as the commander in chief of the Yunnan People's anti Communist army. Li mi ordered Li Guohui to hand over command power. After handing over military power, Li Guohui went to Taiwan and died in 1980.
Personage introduction
With a great reputation known to every family Chinese mainland, Li Guohui (1910 - 1980), Wuan County of Hebei Province, Golden Triangle, the local people called "General Li", the head of the 709 regiment of the Eighth Army of the Chinese Kuomintang army, is a mysterious figure. In China, basically no one knows this name, but in Golden Triangle, this figure is very famous, and has become a household name. If you don't know Li Guohui in the golden triangle, it's like the French don't know Napoleon and the Chinese don't know Sun Yat Sen. This unknown leader of the Kuomintang is the founder of the golden triangle. Without Li Guohui, there would be no golden triangle, the world-famous drug kingdom.
Character experience
At the beginning of 1950, Li Guohui led a team of 1000 people who belonged to Li Mi's Eighth Army. At that time, the Eighth Army was the last line of defense for the Kuomintang to defend the southwest mainland. Chiang Kai Shek ordered him to defend Southern Yunnan in order to counter attack the mainland. Unexpectedly, the people's liberation army launched a thousand li attack from Sichuan and Guangxi at the same time. In the first World War of Mengzi, the Eighth Army collapsed like a mountain and pursued by Yuanjiang. Tens of thousands of the main force of the corps were annihilated on the East Bank of Yuanjiang River Valley. The rest of the remnant fell apart and fled south one after another. The domestic war history called this battle "the last battle to liberate the mainland".
In the pursuit of the super marathon, which lasted for more than a month, there were no cars, airplanes, roads and railways, and both sides relied on one pair of feet to win if they ran fast. The majority of the national army failed to beat the PLA, and they either became scattered soldiers or prisoners. The marching team led by Li Guohui is just one of the few teams that will not be destroyed. Their only hope is to cross the boundary river before pursuing troops to block the border and become a lucky winner in this long-distance race of vital importance. From Xichang, Sichuan, across the big and small Liangshan mountains, into the lush forests of Southern Yunnan, to the west is the thousand mile border with the golden triangle. After Li Guohui's command team crossed the boundary river, they knew the great significance of this moment to their group of Chinese people. Crossing the border, they were the people who left their hometown and went to foreign lands.
From the map, the border line is only 100 kilometers away from the team's destination, xiaomengpeng. In the middle, there is a big mountain called "yerenshan" by the aborigines. This is a primeval forest no man's land with a radius of hundreds of miles. There is no road, only a caravan trail winding through it.
It can be imagined that these unprepared civilized people who rashly break into the dangerous tropical rain forest are tantamount to entering the devil's Palace by mistake, and they will eventually pay a heavy price for their invasion. For hundreds of millions of years, nature has drawn strict boundaries on the earth, creating another forbidden zone for human beings, namely forests and oceans. The overlapping plant communities integrate heaven and earth, with birds like clouds, peacocks dancing, wild animals roaring and boa constrictors running wild. There are no people, no houses, no road vehicles and the noise of the city. Reproduction and death have always been the eternal themes that dominate the world.
Soldiers took turns in front of the road, they waved machetes, in the thick wall of vines, shrubs, weeds and plants to split a path. There were people falling down and being knocked down by deadly miasma, mosquitoes, poisonous snakes and wild animals, but later people continued to walk on the dead bodies. They must not stay. Staying means death. The chief has been reported that the number of healthy animals and population is decreasing dramatically. Dozens of officers and soldiers are missing or left behind every day, and the number of sick people is increasing rapidly. The Quartermaster reported that he had run out of food. As there were no villages in the no man's land, hunger began to threaten people like a ferocious devil. Due to lack of food, sometimes the team can only advance a few kilometers a day. Li Guohui ordered the slaughter of livestock, throwing away heavy equipment and sending people to hunt. However, these measures can not fundamentally alleviate the threat of food shortage. Survival instinct supports people, there is no way out, only forward, simple truth becomes a beacon shining on the team.
The team's footprints continued to extend in the no man's land until the 12th day, when they finally met a stone stronghold of local people. At that time, half of the people in the team were sick. People's heads were covered with lice and their bodies were covered with poisonous sores. Many people played tricks and pulled dysentery. The wounds of the wounded were purulent and infected. Women and children needed to supplement nutrition.
Of course, the aboriginal tribes do not welcome the invasion of the same kind. The reason why they survive and reproduce in the virgin forest is that they are far away from the civilized society and human beings. In the forest, they are the king of beasts, nature is their friend, and human beings are their natural enemies. The natives sounded the blaring horn and the fast-paced wooden drum to declare war on this team. However, the declaration of war and intimidation can not stop the army from advancing. It is an army on the verge of death, so they must exchange the death of others for their own survival. It is said that originally Li Guohui ordered to shoot at the sky to scare away the natives. He needed food from the Shanzhai instead of killing them. But the natives were very tenacious and determined to defend their homeland. They flexibly hide in stone walls, caves, cliffside and grass forest, jump and climb like monkeys, shoot many small crossbows and arrows from trees and cliffside, and throw sharp spears.
An hour later, the unequal battle ended. The aboriginal tribes were wiped out. The natives were killed and wounded countless times. Fortunately, they escaped into the woods alive. The mountain stronghold was occupied. The hungry army was able to supplement and rest before they continued to move forward.
A few days later, when another evening was coming, a lake like flat land appeared in front of them in the remote forest and the edge of the earth - xiaomengpeng! For this day, they struggled in the nightmare like forest for half a month! More than 700 members of the 709 regiment of the 237th division of the 8th Army, led by Li Guohui, the commander of the 8th Army, joined Tan Zhong and more than 600 members of his 278 regiment who had crossed the border a few days earlier. In addition, more than 200 members of the 93rd division of the 6th army of the former Chinese expeditionary army, who were exiled in chefonam, Myanmar, joined them. Later, scattered soldiers, bandits and landlords who fled from Yunnan came to take refuge, and the number of the remnant army soon increased from more than 1500 to more than 3000. The secret service brigade, search brigade and independent first, second and third brigades have been set up to become the largest armed force in the border area of Laos, Myanmar and Thailand.
About two months after the destruction of Yuanjiang River in the eighth corps, one day in the dry season of 1950 (April 20, 1950), in the desolate place of xiaomengpeng, a village called daqili in the northeast of the golden triangle, a group of Kuomintang commanders gathered to hold a historic meeting. There is no written record of this meeting. However, for the future golden triangle of drug Kingdom, this meeting is of far-reaching significance. It shows the beginning of the KMT army as an important force to dominate and rule the golden triangle. At the end of the meeting, Li Guohui walked out of the room. As commander-in-chief, he announced that the 709th regiment and the 278th regiment would be merged, and a brand-new army, the general headquarters of the Renaissance army of the Republic of China, was born.
After the amalgamation, there were more than 1600 fighters, more than 1000 rifles and carbines, dozens of mules and horses, dozens of heavy and heavy machine guns and two mortars. Li Guohui served as commander in chief and head of the 709th regiment, Tan Zhong as deputy commander in chief and head of the 278th regiment, and Qian Yunzhou as chief of staff. It has three detachments and two special brigades, and its headquarters is temporarily located in xiaomengpeng.
With the efforts of Li Guohui and others, the army rapidly expanded to 9000. After discussing with his subordinates, head Li decided to:
Since the party and state no longer want them, and they can't go to the PLA, they have to stay in Myanmar. However, Myanmar has long been independent, and its government can not allow a foreign army with guns to enter their territory. What should I do?
If he doesn't do anything, he decides to use force against the Burmese government. He rebuilt the army, and since he was commander in chief, he has established a base area in the golden triangle.
As mentioned earlier, Burmese mountain people feel good about the national revolutionary army. Seeing the regular troops of the National Army fleeing here, the local people of Myanmar are very welcome, and the military and the people get along like fish and water. Soon, many soldiers married local girls. In later battles with Burmese government forces, the local people supported the national army against the government forces.
It is said that the national government of Myanmar will resort to the military ultimatum to withdraw its remnant army within ten days. Li Guohui and others were not moved. They all agreed that if they wanted to fight, they should fight. They should fight against the prestige and momentum of the foreign army. As a result, more than 20000 Burmese government soldiers were beaten down by the 2000 disabled soldiers
Since then, the Burmese government troops have "invaded" many times, and were repulsed by the disabled troops. The Burmese government has no choice but to turn a blind eye to the disabled army. The remnant army rooted and sprouted in this land, and their life became more and more prosperous and stable. They began to cultivate opium and carry out opium trade. The world famous "Golden Triangle" is so famous.
Later, Li Guohui launched a "civil military marriage" campaign, mobilizing officers without families to marry local women. The chieftain of mengsa was also afraid that the Han army would turn over and "take over" the regime together with his wife and young lady. So he actively cooperated and married one of his little daughters to chief of staff Qian Yunzhou. He asked his little son to recognize Li Guohui as his godfather, and encouraged the leaders and common people to marry his daughter
