Did you complete the main development work of? Is it full time? Let's talk about your status.
Chen Junhao: Yes, from testing, web page production to program development, almost all the work is done by me alone. I quit my job to do my own software full time. A man is both a boss and an employee. But very satisfied with this state, with a laptop can run everywhere, will not delay the work.
Chip: is the download volume of the format factory stable? Have you counted the total number of downloads?
Chen Junhao: it's very stable. There are about 100000 downloads a day all over the world. The total number of downloads is not easy to count, but from the website's response to the new version of the request statistics, there are more than 30 million users in the world.

How was it born?
Chen Junhao: in the era when smart machines and hard disk players were just popular, many hardware manufacturers outsourced projects, which were all about multimedia format processing. Gradually, they accumulated code, and then they made a product.
Chip: How did you get to know serede, the logo designer from Spain, and translators from other countries? What's the story?
Chen Junhao: at the beginning, the software was designed to support multilingualism. However, due to the limited development cost, it is impossible for me to hire dozens of translators. Therefore, it is necessary for users from all over the world to make their own language files to help me realize multilingualism. As a professional artist in Spain, serene often uses my products, so he designed logo and other big pictures for me for free. Here I would like to thank them, It's so warm. It helps me to publicize voluntarily in their respective countries and set off a spark.

That's too much,
Format Factory
How to stand out?
Chen Junhao: the hard disk is big now. You don't mind installing a free and useful software. This software is almost maintained by me alone. There is no lower cost. Big manufacturers can't match my cost. Individual developers have to accumulate functions slowly because they are too late to enter the market. They won't be able to enjoy the benefits for a while. There are fewer products that can persist.
Chip: we know that most of the developers of sharing software in China give up because of various problems, and a lot of people join in the development of Android or iPhone programs. What do you think of today's mobile Internet entrepreneurship?
Chen Junhao: the domestic intellectual property protection environment is really poor. I came from the era of shareware, and I almost had to give up because I couldn't make money. I'm also very optimistic about mobile devices, which will definitely replace most PC functions in the future. Every night before I go to bed, I use HTC mobile phone, watch some movies and funny pictures, and then I fall asleep.
I think those developers who switch to Android and iPhone must have a good orientation and make a software that everyone needs and can't do without. There must be hope to stick to it. I think the biggest pain for developers is that they insist on what they shouldn't insist on and give up what they shouldn't.

What can be called milestone events in the development process of?
Chen Junhao: one is the harvest of multilingualism. If I had only stayed in the Chinese version, I would still be very miserable. I don't think I can hold on. Multi language makes software ignite all over the world. Relying on the bundling income of foreign developed countries, all of a sudden let me see the confidence.
Another turning point is that I understand that we should do what we need, constantly improve functions, constantly reduce costs and increase the number of users. In the future, the computer hardware is like a TV, and the software is like a TV play, which is free of charge. It depends on advertising to make profits. In this way, users, developers and advertisers will benefit from the win-win model. When I think about this problem, the software will be profitable and sustainable.
Chip: in a strict sense, do full format
transcoding
Does the service encounter some protocol violations?
Chen Junhao: Yes, for example, I use ffmpeg and RMVB coding library, but because I help them output their formats, and they all take the player as the main product profit point, and they have no direct conflict, so they don't care with me, and I also provide it to users for free, so that their code can serve more people.
CHIP:
Format Factory
Is it profitable?
Chen Junhao: when the number of users reaches a certain scale, it will be profitable.
Chip: what's the future of format factory? Will there be continuous updates or other possibilities?
Chen Junhao: the format factory is now a profitable product, and its profitability is very considerable (but it mainly depends on the binding of foreign ask toolbars). I think a profitable product must be sustainable. After a little accumulation, I want to further develop it.
