Yang Xia
Yang Xia, female, Tujia nationality, was born on January 8, 1977 in Qianling Town, Baojing County, Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture, Hunan Province. She is a Chinese weightlifter, world champion, Olympic champion and China's first woman weightlifter in the Olympic Games.
On September 18, 2000, at the 27th Sydney Olympic Games, she won the women's 53kg weightlifting championship with absolute strength.
Early experience
Born on January 8, 1977 in Qianling Town, Baojing County, Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture, Hunan Province, she is a typical Tujia girl. Since the second grade of primary school, she has been practicing track and field under the guidance of her brother-in-law, a physical education teacher. Seeing her potential, her brother-in-law recommended her to coach Li Xiaoping of the Autonomous Prefecture sports school. When she was 13 years old, she began to receive special training and began to lift weights. She has good physical quality, stubborn self-esteem, lively and outgoing, hard training, strong acceptance ability, therefore, weight lifting performance is improving day by day.
Yang Xia's barbell training thousands of times a day, the palm of the skin along the lines are cracked, revealing the bright red meat, all this will not beat the little Yang Xia who wants to make a difference in the weightlifting field, so she attaches great importance to the training results. Once, because her grades continued to decline, she was so angry that she ran home without saying hello to the coach and said that she "would rather farm at home". Finally, she came back to the team after her father's persuasion.
In 1988, Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture amateur sports school opened women's weightlifting class, she was the first team member of women's weightlifting class in Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture sports school.
Sports career
She was selected into Hunan Women's weightlifting team in November 1989, and her life has been closely linked with heavy barbells ever since.
At the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, women's weightlifting became an official event of the Olympic Games for the first time. On the evening of September 12, 2000, at the weightlifting training ground of Regents Park in Sydney, Yang Xia, with her face full of sincerity and desire, said that she always had a dream in her heart - a dream of "Grand Slam": integrating the champions of the National Games, the Asian Games, the World Championships and the Olympic Games. Only in this way can she do weightlifting in vain. Yang Xia won the gold medal in the 53kg class and became the first Olympic champion in China's women's weightlifting.

In December 1998, at the 13th Asian Games held in Bangkok, Thailand, he won the gold medal in the 53kg class and broke two Asian records (exceeding the world record) three times, realizing the breakthrough of zero gold medal in Hunan Women's weightlifting Asian Games.
In October 1999, she won three gold medals in the 53kg snatch, clean and jerk and total results in the National Women's weightlifting championship.
In September 2000, at the world-famous Sydney Olympic Games, Yang Xia, who took part in the Olympic Games for the first time, walked calmly to the final with confidence and calm heart, won the 53kg gold medal with absolute advantage, broke three world records, and became the first Chinese women's weightlifting Olympic champion.

Personal life
At the beginning of 1997, in order to reduce her weight to 54 kg, Yang Xia endured the torment of poor indoor air circulation, high temperature and dyspnea. She took many steam baths. After suffering, her weight finally dropped to below 54 kg.
From 2002 to 2006, Yang Xia studied in Hunan Normal University for four years.
