Born in a scholarly family, Zhang Jingxian likes to go to the theater with her parents, brothers and sisters when she is young. When she comes home, she listens to the elders discuss this and that. Enter Shanghai Opera School

In 1959, 12-year-old Zhang Jingxian, with a yearning for opera actors, entered the entrance examination room of Jingkun class of Shanghai Opera School, but she was unexpectedly defeated in the second examination. After all, she was still young. After losing the election, Zhang Jingxian happily returned to the third primary school on Weihai Road. There was a teacher in the school who liked this little activist very much, so he called xiaojingxian and taught her to sing a piece of "one river wind" of xiaochunxiang in the Kunqu Opera "Peony Pavilion".

That summer, the Jingkun troupe of the opera school was once again enrolled in the newspaper.
