Gu Zhongshan is also a guitarist of New England conservator Jazz Orchestra, a famous jazz band in the United States, who has won the downbeat award. He is also one of the founders of "Beijing City Jazz Band" (the first contemporary jazz band in China), "touchstone jazz band" and "Xia Jia jazz trio". He also organized his own jazz band and created a large number of excellent Jazz works. Since 1997, he has been the chief lecturer of jazz guitar and band ensemble of Beijing MIDI music school.
