Yiyang tune is an ancient Chinese opera tune. In the middle of the Southern Song Dynasty, Nanxi, which originated in Zhejiang Province, was introduced to Jiangxi Province through Xinjiang. In Yiyang area, a new local tune Yiyang tune was bred in the late Yuan and early Ming Dynasty, which was juxtaposed with Kunshan tune, Yuyao tune and Haiyan tune. Yiyang cavity, with Yiyang as the center, is mainly inherited and continued in Guixi, Wannian, Leping, Poyang, Fuliang, Shangrao and other areas in Jiangxi Province. It spread to Anhui, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong, Hunan, Hubei, Yunnan, Guizhou and Beijing in the early and middle Ming Dynasty.
Yiyang Opera repertoire is divided into liantai opera and legend. The former includes three kingdoms, outlaws of the marsh, Yuefei, Mulian, Fengshen, etc., while the latter includes Qingmei club, Gucheng club, Dingtian mountain, jindiao, Zhenzhu, Shuishui, etc. Since its birth, Yiyang tune has been widely spread among the people with its artistic characteristics of "making up all kinds of dramas" and "misusing local language". The roles of Yiyang tune are divided into Xiaosheng, Zhengsheng, Laosheng, Erhua, Sanhua, Xiaodan, Zhengdan, laodan, etc, It further enhances the dramatic and expressive force of tune music. In the process of wide spread, Yiyang tune produced a variety of variants, thus forming a high tune system, which had an important impact on more than 40 kinds of tune operas in the north and south, and promoted the development process of Chinese local folk opera.
