Introduction to Jingxi Taiping drum (strange village Taiping drum)
Applicant: Fengtai District, Beijing
Taiping drum, also known as fan drum, single drum and sheepskin drum, is a unique folk festival dance in Beijing. It appeared in Beijing area in Ming Dynasty, and became more and more popular after Qing Dynasty. The Taiping drum in the west of Beijing was a kind of collective song and dance from Manchu women in the early stage, and it was not until the early 20th century that men joined in. Taiping drum activities are held from the first day of the lunar month to the beginning of February of the next year, so it is also called "new year drum" in Beijing. Beating the Taiping drum symbolizes peace and happiness in the world, with a special meaning of praying for the new year.
Taiping drum has been popular in Beijing since the Ming Dynasty, and became extremely popular inside and outside the capital since the Qing Dynasty. In the Qing Dynasty, the court also beat the Taiping drum on Lunar New Year's Eve in order to achieve peace and stability. Therefore, the Taiping drum is also known as "new year drum" in Beijing. The Taiping drum in quecun village, Wangzuo Town, Fengtai District originated from the court of Qing Dynasty and has a history of more than 200 years. According to the old man of strange village, Taiping drum is very popular in the local area. Every family has a drum and everyone can play it. In the early years, the villagers were invited to perform in Liangxiang, Tongxian, Hebei and other places in Beijing, which has a high reputation.
Qicun Taiping drum has a high technical level and artistic value with its small action, implicit emotion and bright rhythm. Its content is mostly from the villagers' daily life, and the performance exudes a strong flavor of life; the performance is simple and easy to learn, and the formation changes are rich and diverse, which is a popular performance form for local residents.
The drum used as dance props in Qicun Taiping drum is made of mulberry paper. It is made of unique technology, strong and durable, and has a clear and pleasant sound. There are many Taiping drum routines in strange village, up to dozens at most. At present, there are still 13 sets of Taiping drum routines, such as "round drum", "round drum instead of pushing and grinding", "four square fight", "six square fight", "eight square fight", "lying Doll" and "three people two ends busy", among which "three people two ends busy" and "lying Doll" are the most distinctive. Qicun Taiping drum music is composed of Qupai and lyrics. Qupai is also called "drum drum", which is not only the name of routine, but also the music Qupai. Most of the Taiping drum music is composed of 2 / 4 beats; the lyrics are sung one by one, mainly including "song of rope", "names of ancient people in December" and "Taiping lyrics". At present, only "names of ancient people in December" and "song of rope" can be collected.
Qicun Taiping drum is a contemporary legacy of traditional drum culture in northern China, which can provide reference for the study of local history and culture in Beijing. In recent years, due to the change of living environment, there is no successor of taipinggu in strange village, which is in urgent need of rescue and protection. At present, the villagers of strange village are committed to cultivating the reserve force of Taiping drum performance, mining and sorting out the precious information that will soon be lost, drawing action maps, and inheriting Taiping drum, a popular folk art form, completely.
