Applicant: Taishan City, Guangdong Province
Guangdong music is a kind of traditional silk and bamboo music popular in the Pearl River Delta and Guangfu dialect area with Guangzhou as the center. It is a treasure of Lingnan traditional folk culture. It is popular in Chinese communities all over the world because of its light, soft, Chinese, fine and strong features and its fresh, fluent and melodious Lingnan style.
Guangdong music has a history of more than 400 years. Since the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it has gone through the stages of germination, development and maturity. There are more than 500 pieces of music whose names and scores can be checked. The representative repertoire includes rain beating banana, thunder in dry sky, double voice hate, three treasure Buddha, Bubugao, autumn moon in Pinghu, entertainment Shengping, Sailong SeiJin, etc. There are many combinations in the band, the most typical of which are "wujiatou" (also known as "hard bow combination" in the 1920s and 1930s, that is, Erxian, violin, Sanxian, Yueqin, hengxiao) and "sanjiatou" (Yuehu, Yangqin, Qinqin). All kinds of silk and bamboo instruments cooperate with each other and benefit from each other, which fully demonstrates the delicacy and beauty of Lingnan silk and bamboo music.
In the long-term practice of creation and performance, Guangdong music has openly selected and absorbed the beneficial elements of foreign music and other domestic folk arts, and transformed them for our own use, forming a unique variety of folk music. It has a group of outstanding composers, performers and representative musical instruments, and is listed as the "three art treasures of Lingnan" along with Cantonese Opera and Lingnan Painting School.
Overseas, where there are Chinese, there is Guangdong music. Guangdong music is an emotional bond between overseas Chinese and their hometown, which has made great contributions to the inheritance of excellent Chinese cultural traditions.
Taishan City is located in the southwest of the Pearl River Delta. It is a famous hometown of overseas Chinese in China. Taishan's "Bayin class" is one of the activities of Guangdong music, which has a unique local color and a long history. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Bayin class mainly played Buddhist music and folk tunes. After the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom movement, Bayin troupe carried out reform, combining music performance with opera singing, and gradually became mature. After 1949, Guangdong music activities in Taishan City were included in the category of urban and rural cultural rooms, and became the activities of cultural rooms. At present, there are more than 120 Guangdong music activity organizations all over the city.
As an outstanding representative of Lingnan culture, Guangdong music culture has profound and rich connotation. After hundreds of years of inheritance and development, it has its own system and unique style, deeply rooted in Lingnan folk culture. This excellent traditional cultural treasure is also facing the problem of inheritance and development, so the protection and support work need to be strengthened.
