Xuzhou Qinshu, also known as "Northern Jiangsu Qinshu", used to be called "Sixian" and "Yangqin", is mainly popular in the border areas of Jiangsu, Shandong, Henan and Anhui provinces with Xuzhou as the center. It originated from Xiaoqu in Ming Dynasty and developed in late Qing Dynasty. It has a history of nearly 200 years.

Xuzhou Qinshu is sung in Xuzhou dialect with strong local flavor. It has both the tactful and elegant southern folk art and the rough and passionate northern folk art. The music structure generally includes "qiban", "mansiban", "dababaan" or "huasiban" and "guoban". When it comes to work, it sings "Fengyang song", "duoziban" or recites, and ends with "shaban". In addition to fengyangge and duoziban, its singing tunes include lianhualuo, mokesa, yinniusi and fengdifeng. Xuzhou Qinshu has a variety of performance forms, such as single, double and table singing. Single can be accompanied by single leg bangs and single board accompaniment. Double is also called "counterpart". The singer holds tanban and plays Yangqin, while the accompanist plays Shengqin. During the performance, he can sing solo, duel, and help or chorus. Table singing is performed by actors and small bands Accompany and help others. In the long process of development, Xuzhou Qinshu artists have created and adapted a large number of repertoire and aria. Through these works, they punish evil and promote good, promote social ethics and express the will of the people. Wang Tianbao's going to Suzhou, Zhang Tingxiu's examination, Lu Dongbin's playing peony, and water flowing over the golden mountain are the most representative of them.

In recent years, the opportunity of Xuzhou Qinshu performance has been reduced, the old artists are too old to continue their career, and the middle-aged actors are forced to make a living. As a result, there is no successor for this style of music, and it is on the verge of extinction. It has become an urgent task to rescue and protect it.
