Introduction to Shengzhou blowing and playing
Applicant: Shengzhou City, Zhejiang Province
Shengzhou blowing originated from folk temple fair activities. According to records, as early as the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, there were "villagers' community competitions" and temple fairs in Shengzhou. It has been handed down from generation to generation for thousands of years. By the middle of Ming Dynasty, there were temples and ancestral halls in every village, and there were theatres in the temples.
From 1949 to the 1980s, Shengzhou folk music gradually formed two major factions in the East and the West. The Xixiang Group, represented by the farmers' band of Changle Town, gradually formed the performance mode of combining gongs and drums with blowing in the inheritance. Among them, the blowing method of "Jianhao" changed the blowing performance to inspiratory performance, which made the horn sound more loud and exciting, with stronger penetration and transmission. This kind of inspiratory playing method is very unique in the performance of national folk musical instruments. The orchestra is characterized by a complete set of "five gongs, three drums and three gongs". The playing instruments include suona, trombone, etc., as well as stringed instruments. The main traditional music includes Yuanmen, Xiuqiu, jealous flower, Shifan, Jieshi, jiangjunling, etc. The Dongxiang group, represented by huangze peasant band, focuses on the performance of silk string music, and its style tends to be delicate. The repertoire is mostly folk minor and some traditional folk silk and bamboo music.
Shengzhou folk music is not only the foundation of Yue opera music, but also an important part of Yue opera. It also has a certain impact on the development of Yue opera singing and accompaniment music. Shengzhou percussion is also one of the main components of "gongs and drums in eastern Zhejiang", which has important reference value for the production and development of folk music and the research of folk customs in eastern Zhejiang.
