Brief introduction of South China silk bamboo
Applicant: Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province
Jiangnan Sizhu is the general name of Sizhu music popular in southern Jiangsu, Western Zhejiang and Shanghai. It is named after the band mainly uses erhu, Yangqin, pipa, Sanxian, Qinqin, flute, Xiao and other instruments.
During the Jialong period of the Ming Dynasty, the opera musicians headed by Wei Liangfu created Kunqu Shuimo tune at the South Wharf of Taicang. At that time, Zhang Yetang and other musicians formed a complete scale of silk and bamboo band and played it by staff. Since then, Sizhu music has been played by Kunqu Opera Troupe and famous drummers. In the long-term development process, it has gradually formed a full-time performance troupe. By the end of Wanli in Ming Dynasty, the new music "Xiansuo" was formed in Wuzhong (Suzhou area), which became the predecessor of Jiangnan Silk and bamboo music.
In the 1920s, Wang Xunzhi, a famous silk and bamboo artist, founded the Hangzhou National Music Club, an early Jiangnan Silk and bamboo organization in Hangzhou, at the "lingshe" on the east foot of Gushan, West Lake. The repertoire compiled and adapted by the national music club quickly spread to Shanghai and other places, and had a great influence in the music industry. After that, Wang Xunzhi and Cheng Wujia founded Huaguang music club in Shanghai, which opened a good situation of mutual communication between Shanghai and Hangzhou, and further developed the music of silk and bamboo.
Jiangnan Silk and bamboo tunes are beautiful and simple, fresh and pleasant, light and bright, beautiful and elegant. Their techniques are rich and colorful, and changes emerge in endlessly. They pay attention to "you are complex and I am simple, you are high and I am low, add flower variations, block and make way, improvise", showing the artistic style of "small, fine, light and elegant". Jiangnan has a rich repertoire of silk and bamboo. The traditional music mainly includes Zhonghua liuban, sanliu, Xingjie, Sihe, Yunqing, etc.
Jiangnan Silk and bamboo is an outstanding representative of Jiangnan water town music culture. Its performance techniques and music style are implicit and contain the profound cultural connotation of pursuing modesty and harmony. It has deep practical and theoretical research value in the history of national music, opera, folk custom and other aspects. In the sixties and seventies of the 20th century, influenced by the current situation, most of the traditional silk and bamboo troupes in Jiangnan dissolved by themselves. Nowadays, the old silk and bamboo artists have passed away one after another, and the traditional repertoire is rarely passed down. Therefore, the inheritance of Jiangnan Silk and bamboo is in deep crisis, and its future is in dire need of protection.
