The custom of catching fish in winter in Chagannur is popular in the surrounding areas of chaganhu lake and Yueliangpao in qianguoerdos Mongolian Autonomous County of Jilin Province. Chagan Lake is one of the seven largest freshwater lakes in China. It is called "Chagannur" in Mongolian, which means "White Lake" and "holy lake".
Northeast China has a long history of fishing and hunting. Chagan Lake has always been a natural place for fishing and hunting. In 1211 ad, Genghis Khan occupied Tahu city of Jin State and went to Chagan Lake to offer sacrifices, which resulted in the ceremony of offering sacrifices to the lake.
