Brief introduction of Yan Emperor's ceremony (Suizhou Shennong Festival)
Applicant: Suizhou City, Hubei Province
Suizhou Shennong Festival is a grand folk activity held in Shennong's hometown to offer sacrifices to the ancestors of the Chinese nation.
Li Jifu of the Tang dynasty recorded in the annals of Yuanhe County: "Lishan, also known as Lieshan, is one hundred Li north of suixian county." Wang Cun and others of the Northern Song dynasty recorded in Yuanfeng jiuyu Zhi: "Suizhou: Shennong temple, in Li village." In historical documents, there is a saying that Suizhou is the birthplace of Yandi Shennong. According to historical legend, April 26 of the lunar calendar is the birthday of Emperor Yan Shennong. It began in the northern and Southern Dynasties and flourished in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
Today, the ancestor worship ceremony in the hometown of Yandi Shennong is held in Lishan Town, Suizhou city. In addition to the enthusiastic participation of the local people, there are also a large number of Chinese people at home and abroad to seek roots and worship their ancestors.
Since the eighth year of tongzhi (1869), Hu Xingpu, a native of Suizhou, presided over the sacrificial ceremony, forming a set of sacrificial rituals, and then formed a tradition, inherited from generation to generation. At present, the host of the memorial ceremony is still a descendant of Hu.
The project is of great significance to inherit the fine tradition of the Chinese nation and enhance the cohesion of the Chinese nation.
