Spring Festival (chagansa day)
Declaration area or unit: qianguoerluosi Mongolian Autonomous County, Jilin Province
In Mongolian, "Chagan" means white and beginning, "Chagan Sari" means "white New Year". Mongolian people take white as pure and auspicious color, so this festival is called "white Festival". Since the Yuan Dynasty, the Mongolian people began to use the algorithm of the Central Plains calendar. Therefore, the Mongolian White Moon coincides with the Spring Festival of the Han people.
"Guoerluosi" is an ancient Mongolian tribe. After moving to the confluence basin of Nenjiang River and Songhua River in Jiaqing period of Ming Dynasty, the traditional custom of "chagansa day" was gradually formed, which was inherited by Mongolian compatriots in former Guoerluosi Mongolian Autonomous County of Jilin Province.
The contents of chagansa day include "Celebrating the new year", "Celebrating the new year's Eve", "welcoming the first day of the new year", "making trouble on the fifteenth day" and "the second day of the last February", which are similar to the Spring Festival Customs of the Han nationality. At the same time, it still retains the Mongolian traditional customs such as Shaman's "offering sacrifices to fire" and eating "handlebar meat" on New Year's Eve.
Chagan Sari not only has important research value in ethnology, folklore and history, but also has great significance in strengthening national unity and promoting cultural exchanges among different nationalities.
