Brief introduction of bone setting therapy of traditional Chinese medicine (Pingle Guo's bone setting method)
Applicant: Luoyang City, Henan Province
Chinese orthopedic therapy is also known as "traumatology" or "orthopedics". In ancient agricultural society, the incidence rate of bone injuries was very high, which was a common disease and frequently occurring disease. At that time, the medical conditions were very poor, and the traffic in the rural villages was blocked. Once fracture occurred, it was very difficult to find treatment. Therefore, the real knowledge was needed and the talents were needed. There were almost one or two local doctors and local methods to cure bone injuries in some large villages and towns. It is a kind of traditional Chinese medicine therapy with wide distribution and various schools in China.
The characteristics of bone setting therapy of traditional Chinese medicine are shown in three aspects. The first is the unique understanding of bone physiology and bone injury pathology according to the theory of traditional Chinese medicine, the second is the wonderful use of manipulation, and the third is the characteristics of drugs. These three points often form a unique therapy and a famous school. With the development of society and the deepening of academic exchanges, traditional Chinese orthopedic therapy has a tendency of convergence, but some famous traumatology experts and famous traumatology schools still have regional characteristics, manipulation characteristics and medication characteristics. Compared with Western orthopedic therapy, Chinese orthopedic therapy still has its unique advantages.
Luoyang bonesetting is a folk traditional Chinese medicine therapy for bone injury diseases, also known as "Pingle Guo's bonesetting", "Pingle bonesetting", "Baima Temple bonesetting". Luoyang Zhenggu originated from the Guo family in Pingle village, Mengjin County, Luoyang City, and was formed in the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty. The Guo family has lived in their hometown for generations and practiced medicine in secret. The descendants of the later generations have been adhering to the ancestral precepts and committed to the development and innovation of traditional Chinese orthopedics, which has promoted Pingle orthopedics from the simple folk medical technology of curing diseases and saving people to the Chinese orthopedics for the benefit of mankind. Before the founding of the people's Republic of China, it was well-known for its unique curative effect and noble medical ethics.
After more than 200 years of practice and innovation, Luoyang orthopedics has become the largest academic school in orthopedics and traumatology of traditional Chinese medicine. It has formed a complete set of orthopedics theory and methods, namely three principles (overall syndrome differentiation, equal attention to muscles and bones, internal and external treatment) and four methods (injury treatment techniques, fixation methods, drug treatment, rehabilitation exercise). It is legendary and scientific, which is closely related to the cause of traditional Chinese medicine It has the characteristics of simplicity, systematicness, practicability and wide spread.
In 1985, Guo Chunyuan, the fifth generation successor of Pingle Guo's orthopedic method and former president of Zhengzhou orthopedic hospital, founded Shenzhen Pingle orthopedic hospital. Guo Chunyuan wrote "Pingle Guo's bone setting method" and "a new bone setting method for world doctors". He vigorously developed and spread Pingle orthopedics. Over the past 20 years, he, his disciples and students have treated millions of orthopedic patients in Shenzhen. Pingle Guo's orthopedic method is widely concerned by medical circles at home and abroad for its distinctive characteristics, rich connotation, theoretical system, unique curative effect, leading technology and its medical ethics of "parents' heart". It has become an important school of orthopedics and traumatology recognized by the domestic industry and has high medical value and traditional cultural value.
Guo's bonesetting method in Pingle, which retains the imprint of Confucianism and Taoism, is an intangible cultural heritage worthy of our serious study and protection. This school, like other traditional Chinese medicine, is facing development difficulties and in urgent need of protection.
