The legend of Dong Yong
Applicant: Wuzhi County, Henan Province
The legend of Dong Yong was first recorded in the biography of filial son (picture) by Liu Xiang in the Western Han Dynasty. Since then, there have been relevant records in Ganoderma lucidum written by Cao Zhi of the Three Kingdoms and Soushenji written by Gan Bao of the Eastern Jin Dynasty. Gan Bao's records are widely spread in rural areas of China because of its prominent theme (filial piety) and complete plot (deer cart carrying father "," selling one's body to bury father "and daughter's marriage" helping the king to repay debts "), which has become the mother of story evolution and Literature transplantation for more than 2000 years and has a far-reaching influence on later generations. Because the story of Dong Yong and the seven fairies is a folk legend with both educational function and love color, its educational content adapts to the psychological needs of the Chinese people for a long period of peace and stability, and the love story fits the people's inner feelings of pursuing marriage and happiness, so its artistic characteristics of the ingenious fusion of magical fantasy and human reality are deeply loved by the people. In the process of long-term word-of-mouth transmission, the legend has been evolving from place to place, from time to time, and from person to person. In the process of development and evolution, it has a tendency to evolve into a love story, but the theme and "mother" have not changed greatly. In the past 100 years since the 20th century, Dong Yong's story has always been the subject of popular literature (such as rap and opera) with a large audience and the later film and television literature creation. There have been many influential works such as Huangmei Opera Tianxianpei.
In the long spreading process of more than 2000 years, the legend of Dong Yong has been constantly combined with people's life in various places. Due to the infiltration of people's feelings and the attachment of public praise, legends with local characteristics have emerged, leaving behind customs and relics, steles, villages, place names and other relics related to Dong Yong's life experience. In Wanrong County of Shanxi Province, Dongtai City of Jiangsu Province, Wuzhi County of Henan Province and Xiaogan City of Hubei Province, there are not only relics related to Dong Yong, but also records in local chronicles that Dong Yong is a local, such as Dong Jiazhuang and Dong Yong's tomb in boxing, Shandong Province; plaque of "Dong Yong's hometown" in Xiaohuai village of Wanrong, Shanxi Province, and "wedding cloth" woven among the people; the second lunar calendar in Wuzhi County, Henan Province is held every year On the third day of the month and the tenth day of November, grand temple fairs were held to worship the filial son. Dongtai City, Jiangsu Province, has Dong's house, which is recorded in Fang Yu Sheng Lan of the Southern Song Dynasty as Dong Yong's former residence. The "snowball" phenomenon, which is widely spread and constantly attached, is a common feature of legends. The historical and literary materials contained in the legend of Dong Yong are of certain value to the study of society, economy, politics, culture, especially literature and art in various historical periods of our country. The enlightenment function of Dong Yong's legend has certain practical significance for the practice of building socialist spiritual civilization and harmonious society.
