Lisu folk songs include Mugua, Baishi and Youye.

Mugua is one of the most important and popular folk songs of Lisu nationality, which is popular in the Lisu inhabited area of Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan Province. In Lisu language, Mugua generally refers to all songs and tunes, and later gradually becomes the special name of ancient narrative songs. Other songs and tunes belonging to the category of Mugua are usually preceded by content, such as a Chi Mugua (goat tune), Qi Ben Mugua (Sanxian tune), etc. Mugua is mainly used in traditional narrative poems with serious content and solemn atmosphere, and mostly sings in national festivals, gatherings and other times and occasions. Representative singing content such as "Genesis", "production tune", "shepherd song", "escape marriage tune" and so on, the melody is simple, deep, with a desolate, ancient style. Wood scraping is generally divided into two sides by the middle-aged and old men, sitting cross legged around the fire pool, each with a male and female identity, a question and answer duet. During the duel, both sides are led by one person and accompanied by others. The leader sings a sentence, and the accompanist sings a sentence. During the singing, wine is used to boost the fun, while drinking and singing. Mugua duet also has the characteristics of competition. If the singers of both sides are duet experts, the duet often lasts for several days and nights. The traditional narrative ancient songs of Lisu nationality, which are sung by Mugua, are widely related to ethnic origin, human reproduction, production and life, customs, love and marriage, religious belief and ethnic communication. They vividly represent a broad picture of Lisu's social history and have high value of understanding and aesthetic appreciation. For example, the long narrative song "runaway marriage tune" reflects the Lisu People's marriage customs of "pointing the belly for marriage" and "employing cattle", the social customs of fighting for freedom and love by runaway marriage, the primitive beliefs of killing sheep to evoke souls, beating dogs to swear, and swearing blood and wine, as well as the solidarity spirit of mutual help and the level of social productivity and production status of Lisu People.

With the death of the older generation of singers, there are few people who can sing the contents of Lisu Mugua history songs and long narrative songs. "Baishi" and "Youye" are the two most representative Lisu folk songs in Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan Province.

Pendulum time is widely spread in Lushui county and Lanping County of Lisu nationality. It is sung in peacetime and festival gatherings, harvest celebrations, weddings and other festive occasions. The lyrics are wide-ranging and the melody is passionate. It is suitable to show inner passion and is deeply loved by Lisu People. Most of the songs are collective duets between men and women, or one person can sing solo for self entertainment. The content of singing can be divided into "Duo I" and "Zhi I". "Duo I" mainly sings long traditional narrative poems, while "Zhi I" improvises according to the object of the song, with love and current affairs as the main content. The representative repertoire includes "bamboo string song", "bitter song", "orphan tears" and so on. The annual Lushui County denggeng "bath pool competition Song Festival" is a grand event of time singing.

Youye is mainly popular in Lisu villages in Fugong County. According to the content and form of singing, it can be divided into two categories: one is composed of middle-aged and old people sitting around the fire pool drinking wine while singing to each other. The main content is to recall the sadness and suffering of the old time, with low melody, slow speed and stable melody; the other is light and lively, which is the main way for young men and women to express their feelings Same sex duels. The first type of Youye has been rarely sung, and the second type is still widely spread. Youye's common repertoire includes Hunting Song, whispering, firewood cutting song, etc.

Baishi and Youye are the outstanding representatives of Lisu oral literature and art. Through the creation of singers in past dynasties, they have accumulated extremely rich singing content for a long time, involving almost all aspects of social life and folk activities. At the same time, Paishi and Youye also created a variety of artistic expression techniques rich in national personality, such as the sentence pattern, rhythm and rhetorical characteristics of the poems of the Li nationality, which are mainly reflected in this kind of folk songs.
