Sacrificial village god forest is a kind of sacrificial activity held by Hani people before the beginning of spring ploughing every year (generally in the middle of January), praying for good weather and good harvest in the coming year, and the safety of people and animals.
The sacred forest of sacrifice village is widely spread in Hani villages of Yunnan Province. The sacred forest in Yuanyang County is the most ceremonious festival in all Hani villages. There is a long history of sacrificial forest, but the festival period of sacrificial forest is slightly different. In the area of Habo village in Yuanyang County, the festival starts from the first Chenlong day in the lunar month and continues to the afternoon horse day. The festival lasts for three days. On the first day of the festival, we clean the stockade, kill chickens, pound glutinous rice Baba and dye duck eggs. The respected village leader led several men with prosperous family and good conduct to sacrifice to the village god forest. Sacrificial sacrifices are distributed equally among the families in the village. Family members and livestock must have a taste of them, and they must also be mixed into the grain seeds. On the second and third days, long street banquets were held and the old Haba (ancient song) was sung all night. The old people told their descendants about the history of their ancestors' migration, the ethics of settling down and the technology of terraced farming, and evaluated each villager's virtue in the past year. There is a saying of Hani people, which is called "if you don't sing, the stockade will not be peaceful; if you don't dance Brown fan dance, the people will not be healthy; if you don't dance Gua drum dance, the ears of grain will not be full; if you don't dance music, the livestock will not be prosperous". During the festival, the village is a scene of singing and dancing.
Jinzhai Shenlin shows Hani's traditional culture, especially its solar calendar and phenological calendar, creation and migration epic and narrative poem, music and dance and other cultural elements; secondly, Jinzhai Shenlin fully reflects Hani's worldview of observing the will of heaven, conforming to nature and pursuing harmony between man and nature; thirdly, Jinzhai Shenlin is a prelude to spring ploughing and fully demonstrates Hani's terraced fields in mountainous areas Knowledge system of farming etiquette, technology and taboo.
With the development of the times, the scale and influence of the sacred forest of the sacrificial village are becoming larger and larger, but the inheritance of the traditional epic, knowledge, technology and values is weakening, which is in urgent need of protection.
