Yue Kiln is the most famous celadon kiln system in ancient China. Because the kiln site is located in Shangyu, Yuyao, Ningbo and other places in Zhejiang Province, it was under the jurisdiction of Yuezhou in ancient times, so it was named Yue Kiln celadon.

Shangyu is recognized as the birthplace of Yue celadon. It was formed in the Han Dynasty, flourished in the Western Jin Dynasty, flourished in the Five Dynasties and Northern Song Dynasty, and declined gradually in the middle and late Northern Song Dynasty. Shangyu is also the central producing area of early Yue porcelain, where most of the early Yue porcelain unearthed from various places are produced.

The production of Shangyu Yue Kiln celadon has to go through a complex process: mining, crushing, screening, washing, precipitation, aging, mud refining, molding, drying, trimming, decoration, glazing and firing. The selection of porcelain clay (stone), the production, molding and firing of glaze are the most important links.

Shangyu Yue Kiln celadon is made of local porcelain stone or clay. Its body is gray and its glaze is blue yellow or green.
