Introduction to Suzhou embroidery
Applicant: Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province
Suzhou embroidery is the abbreviation of Suzhou embroidery. It was named after the place where it came into being. In history, it existed widely in urban and rural areas of Suzhou. In the past decade, Suzhou embroidery industry has gradually shrunk, and now it is mainly concentrated in the urban area of Suzhou, Dongzhu town and Zhenhu street of high tech Zone.
The origin of Suzhou embroidery is unknown. The existing Suzhou embroidery objects since the Song Dynasty show the development status and actual level of Suzhou embroidery skills in different historical periods. For example, the fragments of Suzhou embroidery in the Yuan Dynasty show that there were nine kinds of embroidery stitches used in one work at that time; the embroidery in the Ming Dynasty mostly used literati paintings, and began to form a unique style of delicacy and elegance; Suzhou embroidery became an industry in the Qing Dynasty, and commodity embroidery was extremely developed, so Suzhou was known as "Embroidery City". During the reign of Daoguang, Ding Pei, a Suzhou woman, summed up her embroidery skills and completed the first professional embroidery work "embroidery manual" in China. In the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, Shen Shou, a famous Suzhou embroidery master, created "simulation embroidery" and orally wrote "xuehuan embroidery manual" in her later years to sum up her embroidery experience. In the 1930s, Yang Shouyu, a famous Suzhou embroidery master, created "random needle embroidery", which enriched and expanded the subject matter and connotation of Suzhou embroidery. In the 1950s, Su embroidery master created "random needle embroidery" Suzhou Embroidery Research Institute established, gathered and trained a large number of Suzhou embroidery talents. On the basis of inheriting the traditional embroidery methods, they studied and created a variety of embroidery methods and needlework, which made the Suzhou embroidery skills develop and improve continuously.
Since the Ming Dynasty, there have been many masters and schools of Suzhou embroidery. At present, there are still some influential and influential Suzhou embroidery, which can be divided into three genealogies,
The first is traditional fine embroidery, the second is "simulation embroidery" created by Shen Shou, and the third is "random needle embroidery" created by Yang Shouyu. The skills of these three genealogies have rich and changeable adaptability, complete and systematic technical jurisprudence, traditional calligraphy and painting taste and strong local color.
Suzhou embroidery has always been the most representative arts and crafts in Suzhou, which is of great value to the study of Arts and crafts history, folklore and feminism. However, with the development of modern commodity economy and science and technology, computer embroidery technology has been widely used. Under this situation, the living space of Suzhou embroidery is shrinking day by day. There are fewer and fewer highly skilled inheritors and high-quality Suzhou embroidery works of art. Suzhou embroidery is facing the crisis of orderly inheritance, which needs urgent rescue and protection.
