Introduction to Qiang embroidery:
Applicant: Wenchuan County, Sichuan Province
Qiang embroidery is a kind of traditional embroidery art popular in Sichuan and other places where Qiang people live. It has a long history. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Qiang cross stitch embroidery was very popular in Qiang areas. In addition to labor, Qiang women choose needles and thread to embroider. In practice, they create Qiang embroidery with rich national characteristics. Qiang embroidery is mainly based on delicate cross stitch, in addition to word weaving (jacquard), Nahua (TIE), paihua (flat embroidery), Gouhua (chain buckle), etc. These needling methods have their own characteristics, such as the unique bright and beautiful effect of Nahua, and the bold and unconstrained effect of Gouhua. Qiang embroidery mostly takes flowers, vegetables, fruits, birds and animals as the theme, and can also show the characters. All the embroidery contents are exquisite, beautiful, lifelike and full of auspicious meanings, reflecting the Qiang people's longing for a better life. Qiang embroidery products are most famous for their flowered waistband and yunyun shoes. The patterns are mostly geometric, with rigorous composition, well-organized and highly decorative. Its colors are bright, bright and fast, mostly black and white, and the colors on the cross stitch and Nahua are gorgeous, just like colorful neon. Qiang embroidery is both beautiful and practical. The parts decorated with embroidery samples are easy to be damaged. The dense stitches enhance the wear resistance of clothing, which shows the wisdom and ingenuity of Qiang people in process design.
