Introduction to Yicheng Qinshu
Applicant: Yicheng County, Shanxi Province
Yicheng Qinshu, also known as "gengzishu", commonly known as "local book", is a popular form of Quyi storytelling in Yicheng County, southern Shanxi Province and the surrounding Quwo, Xiangfen, Fushan, Qinshui and Jiangxian counties.
There is no literature to study the formation time of Yicheng Qinshu. It can be inferred from the artists that Yicheng Qinshu was very prosperous in the late Qing Dynasty, with a history of at least 120 years.
The performance form of Yicheng Qinshu is rap and singing, mainly singing, adopting Yicheng dialect. In the early stage, only one person played the hinge to accompany the performance, and some artists played the dulcimer or Yueqin to accompany the rap. Later, there was a way of performance by many people, accompanied by instruments such as xiaoyangqin, Sanxian and Sihu. In the early Republic of China, bamboo flute, Banhu, erhu, cymbals, octagonal drum and other musical instruments were added. And then there was the double and multi partner performance. Among them, when performing for two people, one plays the octagonal drum rap and the other plays the Yueqin accompaniment; when performing for many people, one plays the octagonal drum or single cymbal, and the other plays different musical instruments or participates in the "split singing". During the performance, there is a table in the middle of the venue, with the leading actor standing behind the table and the band sitting on both sides.
The singing tune of Yicheng Qinshu is a mixture of banpai, which includes two kinds of singing tunes: "cymbal tune" and "Guer tune". "Cymbal tune" is named after the leading actor who holds a single leaf cymbal during the performance, which belongs to Banque style. Banque style includes adagio, Erban, huaerban, jinerban, Feiban, etc.; and "guerban tune" is named after the leading actor who holds an octagonal drum to percussion accompaniment during the performance, which belongs to single tune style. "Cymbal tune" and "drum tune" can be used in one aria. "Drum cavity" is usually used only once, usually inserted into "cymbal cavity". The form of libretto is mainly seven character sentence, with upper and lower sentence style and lower sentence rhyme.
Yicheng Qinshu has a lot of traditional programs. It is known that there are more than 50 large books, more than 70 small books, more than 200 "huishu" and more than 300 "Shumao" which are often picked and performed. The heritage is very rich. However, due to various reasons, its survival and development in today's worrisome situation, in urgent need of rescue and protection.
