Introduction to shadow play (Longjiang shadow play)

Longjiang shadow play is a kind of shadow play with independent performance form, performance repertoire, performance means and inheritance pedigree, which takes Harbin as the center. It is known as the "Jiangnan school" of Heilongjiang shadow play. Harbin Children's Art Theater shadow play troupe is the only professional shadow play troupe in Heilongjiang Province. On the national day of 1959, the shadow play troupe of Harbin Children's Art Theatre with "bald tailed old Li" was invited to Beijing to perform as a model of the national elite meeting, and then went to Huairen Hall of Zhongnanhai to report to the central leadership, which was highly praised. The performance of "pig Bajie carrying his wife" 50 years ago has long been a household name in Northeast China. The troupe has performed in Japan for 11 times, and has successively performed traditional plays in France, South Korea, Singapore, the United States, Switzerland, Italy and Taiwan of China and conducted academic exchange activities. With the social change, Longjiang shadow play presents a situation of sharp decrease in inheritors and shrinking audience, which is in urgent need of protection and inheritance.
