Heizixi, also known as "kezixi", "heizixi" and "hazixi", is named for its use of the word "Hi" or "Ke" in the performance and the word "Hi" in the middle of the aria. Hizi opera was formed in the middle of Qing Dynasty from Jiaqing to Daoguang. It was popular in Funan, Yingshang, Linquan and other places in Northwest Anhui Province, as well as Huaibin, Gushi, Shangcheng and Xixian in Henan Province. In the early stage, Hezi opera was a rap form of "singing around the drum". It used "coloratura minor" to perform the program with story plot. Later, it absorbed the tunes of Lantern opera and folk songs and gradually formed the form of opera.

The dialect of Huaihe River Basin is used in the performance of hizi opera. The form of performance is flexible. The music structure is mainly composed of banqiang style, supplemented by Qupai style. At the same time, the combination of bangqiang is used to form the trinity of singing, bangqiang and playing. The main tunes are Laosheng tune, xiwazi tune and kuwazi tune, and the Huadiao tune includes Xiashan tune, fangyingge tune, Dahuo tune and Jita tune. The traditional performance of hizi opera is accompanied by gongs and drums. After the founding of new China, silk and bamboo instruments have been added. There are three forms of "Hi Zi" Drama: Ben Xi, zhe Zi Xi and San Xiao Xi. There are more than 100 traditional plays, such as "playing peach blossom", "standing on the flower wall", "Wang Yuanwai divorcing his wife" and so on, which are still popular today. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, Funan hi troupe once performed new dramas such as "one thousandth of a second" and "stubborn captain", which were withdrawn in 1982.

At present, there is no professional troupe in Haizi opera in Funan. There are few folk troupes and there are no successors. It is facing a serious survival crisis.
