Ouju opera is the most influential opera in Wenzhou area, formerly known as "Wenzhou Luantan". It was formed in the early Qing Dynasty, mainly spread in Wenzhou counties, Lishui and Taizhou, Zhejiang Province, and has far-reaching influence in Northern Fujian and Northeast Jiangxi. Ouju opera is a kind of multi tone opera, which is mainly composed of Luantan opera, singing Kunqiang opera, Gaoqiang opera, huidiao opera and tanhuang opera.

There are more than 450 kinds of operas in Ou opera, which are mainly from Nanxi, Zaju of yuan and Ming Dynasties and legends of Ming and Qing Dynasties. Among them, there are 84 authentic traditional operas, including "three Kunqu operas, four gaooperas, four huioperas, four lengoperas and five laooperas", which refer to three Kunqiang operas of Lianhuan Ji, yujiale opera and leifengta opera, four Gaoqiang operas of Leigong Bao, Huanhuan Bao opera, Baoen Pavilion and ziyangguan opera, four Huilong opera, Longfeng opera, shuangqiulian opera and tianyuanpei opera Cold plays and five old plays that are not often performed.

The stage art of Ou opera is unique, its role is not blocked by the civil and martial arts, the civil opera is delicate and implicit, and has the performance skills such as "slow step", "sparrow step" and "three jump step"; the martial arts opera integrates the "little Nanquan" in the fight, which is hot and has local characteristics. Make up face with thick lines to highlight the contrast of color, text face, animal face, etc. are unique and eye-catching. The singing of all kinds of tunes also has a special charm. Kunqiang is beautiful and long, colorful and exciting, the Hui tune is simple and straight, tanhuang is euphemistic and moving, the time tune is popular and fluent, high pitched dry singing, the use of auxiliary tunes, gongs and drums to help the festival, the sonorous and noisy big gongs, rich drum classics and the unique beating of ancient foot drums make the music tune of Ou opera more characteristic and show its moving charm.
