Introduction to Shangdang Luozi
Applicant: Lucheng City, Shanxi Province
Shangdang Luozi is a kind of local opera popular in Shangdang area of Shanxi Province. It was formed at the junction of Li (city) and Lu (city) on the West Bank of Zhuozhang River in Daoguang period of Qing Dynasty. Shangdang Luozi in Licheng is also called "Licheng Luozi". According to historical records, in 1869, Luhe village of Lucheng in the Qing Dynasty set up a group to sing songs. Later, Lijiazhuang village, Weizi Town, huangniuti village and Xiaochang village also set up groups. Shangdang Luozi performed in Lucheng, and then spread to neighboring places such as Pingshun, Huguan, Zhangzi and Tunliu. In addition to Shangdang area, Zuoquan and Yushe in Jinzhong, Wu'an and Shexian in Hebei also have Shangdang performances. In 1955, this local opera was officially named "shangdangluozi".
Shangdang Luozi's music is in Gong mode, mainly in banqiang style, supplemented by Qupai style. The main types of banqiang are "flowing water", "clear flowing water" and "scattered plate", while Qupai style has "concave plate", "eight plate" and "lock plate", most of which are dedicated to music, based on the four sentence system, and finally connected with the "flowing water" plate. The singing is simple and moving, natural and kind. It is melodious and tactful in its high intensity. It has the characteristics of clear rhythm and flowing kisses. It can not only narrate, but also express emotions. It is deeply loved by the audiences in the spreading places.
In the early days of Shangdang's founding, they performed "three small plays" and "family drama", with only three professions of Xiaosheng, Xiaodan and clown. Later, after development, it formed a relatively complete role line, and it had two more sets of Xusheng than other operas, which had the saying of "seven tight, eight habitual, nine stop". With the change of the purpose of the play, there has been a clear division of labor in all trades, and the phenomenon of one person playing two trades at the same time no longer appears.
Shangdang Luozi, Shangdang GongDiao, Shangdang pihuang, Shangdang Nuo opera and Shangdang Dui opera are popular in the same area. They have a deep foundation and are of great research value in folklore, religion, history and culture.
