Luoshan shadow play in Henan Province evolved gradually from the ancient Central Plains shadow play. In the late Qing Dynasty, Luoshan artists absorbed the artistic experience of luanzhou shadow play, which further developed Luoshan shadow play. Luoshan shadow puppet is made of exquisite materials, fine and accurate engraving, and the figures and pavilions have Jianghuai style.

Luoshan shadow play has won the favor of the audience in Jianghuai region. It is often performed in Hubei, Anhui, Henan and other places, with a wide range of activities. Its singing music contains the elements of folk music in Jianghuai area, and the true and false voices can be easily converted when singing, showing a high, bright, euphemistic and beautiful artistic style. The lyrics are humorous and catchy, reflecting the characteristics of Jianghuai folk oral literature. There are 416 items of Luoshan shadow play, among which 231 are often performed, most of which are based on classic literature. At present, Luoshan shadow play lacks successors and is on the verge of extinction.
