Zhangpu town
Zhangpu town belongs to Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province. It is located in the delta between Shanghai, Suzhou and Kunshan. It is one of the important towns in the Yangtze River Delta open to the outside world. The town covers an area of 110 square kilometers and has jurisdiction over 11 communities and 16 villages.
In 2018, Zhangpu town has a population of 250000. Zhangpu has formed six agricultural characteristic industries: turtle, watermelon, mushroom, flowers and seedlings, traditional aquatic products, and pollution-free grain and oil.
On October 9, 2018, Zhangpu town was selected as one of the top 100 towns with comprehensive strength in China in 2018. On October 8, 2019, it will be selected into the top 100 towns of China's top 1000 comprehensive strength in 2019.
In 2019, Zhangpu town is expected to achieve a GDP of 24 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4% (current price); a general public budget revenue of 2.765 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.2%, and a tax ratio of 90.4%;
In July 2020, the National Patriotic Health Campaign Committee reconfirmed Zhangpu town as a national health township.
Evolution of organizational system
According to the identification of cultural relics unearthed from Zhaoling mountain, there were human activities in Zhangpu town in the late Neolithic period.
In the late spring and Autumn period (about 500 BC), the territory belongs to the state of Wu.
In 221 B.C., the first emperor of Qin unified China and carried out the system of prefectures and counties.
In 129, the fourth year of Yongjian in the Eastern Han Dynasty, it was located in Lou County, Wujun county.
In 536, Lou county was renamed Kunshan county.
In the 11th year of song Chunyou (1251), nine townships were set up in Kunshan.
In Ming Dynasty, it was made in Song Dynasty.
In 1724, half of Kunshan was set up in Xinyang County, and the fifth protection of Quanwu Township still belonged to Kunshan county.
In the second year of Xuantong of Qing Dynasty (1910), the fifth protection of Quanwu township was renamed Zhangpu township.
At the beginning of the Republic of China (1912), Zhangpu was a county township.
In 1923, the county established the system of "Lu" and "Lin", which governs three towns of Zhangpu, chenmu and Luzhi, and seven townships of Zhouxiang, Daci, shangmingdian, Hangshang, Dutou, ZHANGJIASHE and mengzibang, totaling 351 Lu and 1709 Lin.
In 1929, the organic law of the county was issued by Jiangsu Province, and Zhangpu and Luzhi (Xiatang township of Kunming and now Nangang Township, the same below) became the seventh district.
In June 1934, Zhangpu belonged to the Sixth District.
In January of the 24th year of the Republic of China (1935), the Lu neighborhood system was abolished and the Bao Jia system was established, with 10 households as the first and 10 families as the guarantee. The Sixth District has jurisdiction over 76 and 828 families.
In November 1938, Zhangpu was a county township.
In March of the Republic of China (1941), the Sixth District had jurisdiction over three towns and seven townships, with a total of 89bao and 972a.
In December 1942, the Sixth District had jurisdiction over four townships, namely Zhangpu, Luzhi, Zhouxiang and Dutou, with a total of 33 Baojia and 348a.
In September 1945, the Sixth District had jurisdiction over three towns of Zhangpu, chenmu and Luzhi, and seven townships of Zhouxiang, Daci, Hangshang, shangmingdian, mengzibang, ZHANGJIASHE and Dutou, totaling 79bao and 842a. In December of the same year, the Sixth District was named Zhangpu district.
In February 1947, the former Zhengyi district was merged into Zhangpu district. In December of that year, Zhangpu was a county township.
At the beginning of 1949, the county implemented "mass organization and training", with five supervision districts and Zhangpu the fourth.
On May 14, 1949, Zhang Pu was liberated.
On June 1, 1951, Wusong township was divided into Zhangpu district.
In 1954, the county was divided into eight districts, Zhangpu district was merged into xidun District, and Zhangpu was a small township.
In September 1956, Zhangpu was a county township.
On September 17, 1958, Nangang township was merged into Zhangpu Township and Zhangpu people's commune was established.
In March 1962, the scale of the commune was adjusted. Nangang and Daci were set up from Zhangpu.
In August 1983, the government and the commune were separated, and the people's commune was changed into a township (town), and Zhangpu was a county township.
On June 20, 1988, Zhangpu withdrew the township and built a town.

On June 1, 1951, Wusong township was divided into Zhangpu district from Zhengyi district. Zhangpu district has jurisdiction over 11 small townships and 39 administrative villages.
In 1952, Zhangpu district had 13 small townships under its jurisdiction, with 92 joint villages in Daci Township and Yangshu Township added from Dianxi district. The next year, the two townships were set out.
In 2013, Zhangpu town had 25 villages, including Jinhua village, Beicun village, Zhangpu village, Jingshang village, Huayuan village, Yijing village, Dazhi village, Qiqiao village, Zhaoling village, Zhaopu village, Jinjiazhuang village, shijiajing village, Wujia village, Zhouxi village, Lixiang village, shitiao village, Yuepu village, Sanjia village, Caoqiao village, Zhangxiang village, Xintang village, Xincun village and Zhoudong village.

Zhangpu town is located in the South hinterland of Kunshan county. Zhangpu town covers an area of 110 square kilometers (2018), 10.5 kilometers away from the county seat. The longest place in the north and south of the town is 10 kilometers, with an average length of 8 kilometers, and the widest place in the East and West is 8.7 kilometers, with an average width of 6.2 kilometers. Zhangpu is located in the east of the alluvial plain of Taihu Lake Basin. It is an unplanned polygon. The total area of Taihu Lake is 49.9 square kilometers, of which 84% is land area and 16% is water area. 90% of the field surface elevation (zero point of Wusong River, the same below) is between 3.3 m and 3.5 m, with an average elevation of 3.45 m, belonging to the semi high field area of South Kunlun. The terrain is flat and the natural slope is small. The terrain inclines from southwest to northeast, slightly higher in the southwest, and lower along Wusong River in the north and East. The highest point in the territory is 9 meters (4000 square meters of zhaolingshan site), and the lowest point is 2.7 meters (Yangtze River pool), most of which are dish shaped depressions.
